EUCAP President Heta Pukki presented preliminary results from the Autistic Mothers Project interviews at the Autscape Conference in the UK today. A few final interviews are also being done with conference attendees.

The Autistic Mothers project, which includes interviews with autistic mothers in 5 European countries (Hungary, Finland, Portugal, Belgium, and the UK) is funded by the European Disability Forum (EDF) through the Women with Disabilities Leading the Change sub-granting programme. The project explores the experiences, needs and barriers faced by autistic mothers, and puts autistic women’s lived experiences at the center of awareness-raising and advocacy, with the aim of contributing to better services, policies and opportunities.

LAST CHANCE: EUCAP's Autistic Mothers Project survey ends this week! Please submit your responses by August 14.

All autistic mothers (including those who are self diagnosed) are welcome to participate!

If you don’t identify as a woman, you can still participate, as long as you identify or have identified at some point in your life as a mother. Autistic trans men who have given birth are welcome to participate, as well as autistic trans women who have taken the role of mother in the lives of any child or children.

We primarily seek participants who have engaged with service systems in European countries while raising children.

The AskAnAutistic webinar created by the EUCAP team is now available as a recording on our YouTube channel.

This video features four young people from Czechia, Finland and Greece: Tomas, Meri, Nikolas and Konstantina. They speak openly about topics such as identity, terminology, school, vocational and university studies, sensory issues, their relationship to physical exercise, and the various ways they advocate for themselves. The discussion is facilitated by Dr. Angela Kingdon.

The survey of the Autistic Mothers project is now open!

What are the strengths and challenges that autism brings to motherhood? What are the types of support that work well, and where do our societies pile obstacles in our way?

If you have something to say about these topics, help us to raise awareness and develop advocacy materials by responding to this survey.

We will focus primarily on Europe, but responses from other parts of the world are also welcome.

The Autscape Organisation is introducing main programme speakers, and reminding everyone that registration for the full residential event closes today, July 14th. Day tickets will be available until July 20th.

An presenter highlight: Marte Dalmo from Norway will introduce “visibility logic”, a framework for understanding how support systems interpret and reinforce autistic masking, making support dependent on how others interpret us from the outside.
