When she returned, her son was suffering from malnutrition. He overcame this challenge with a therapeutic paste—which we supplied to the health centre where he was treated.

In South Kivu, we helped support thousands of children suffering from malnutrition, thanks in part to funding from the US government.

🌊 Testing a flood simulation can save lives and property.
In Laos, we launched an Early Warning System for floods that uses sensors to monitor river levels. When the flood comes, it sends warning SMS messages to residents in vulnerable areas. But what should people do in the moment when alert arrives?

That’s why we met with local residents, officials, and volunteers in Boungbao village to practice hands-on steps for an incoming flood.

What did the locals learn?
🔹 How to track official warning signals.
🔹 How to secure their property, crops, and livestock.
🔹 How to safely evacuate their families and assist vulnerable neighbours.

🗨️ "The simulation helped us better understand how to prepare, and how respond when we receive a flood warning message. This will help reduce damage to property and loss of life," says Mr. Houng, one of the exercise participants.

🌱 North Macedonia suffers from air pollution and poor waste management. Our friends at ZIP Institute is tackling both issues through the practical application of the circular economy and local community involvement.

• They organised the first Climate Assembly in Skopje. Selected citizens from various socioeconomic backgrounds drafted recommendations for the city to improve air quality and urban life, which the city council accepted.

• They came up with an idea on how to turn agricultural waste in to something useful. They produce 100% biodegradable, chemical-free, and locally made straws as an affordable alternative to plastic.
