How can we build a stronger community? Through play, language and shared experiences. 🤝❤️

We recently spent a wonderful day visiting our partners at the YMCA Plzeň-Starý Plzenec during their English summer camp. This week, the children immersed themselves in the magical world of 'Alice in Wonderland' through theatre, arts and crafts, dancing and constant English practice.

The atmosphere of integration and mutual support was palpable. Eliška, a passionate camp leader who grew up with this programme, said: "I have been taking part in these camps since I was three years old. It’s a passion of mine nowadays, my second family."

The camp forms part of the 'Help with Cultural Understanding' project, which provides Czech and Ukrainian children with essential English language tools, fosters mutual understanding, and helps families connect.

A huge thank you to our partners and their volunteers for creating safe, joyful spaces that have a lasting positive impact on the children in our community! 🌍✨

Real support is not about headlines; it is about standing with people for as long as it takes. 🤝💙
This , LWF Prague joins the global call to by focusing on what matters most: dignity, personal connection, and long-term community support.

As our colleague Kateřina Brzicova (Humanitarian Support Officer) shares: "Solidarity is not pity or charity, it is just a part of humanity. It means standing with people affected by crisis, not only when their situation is in the news, but for as long as support is needed."

In the Czech Republic, this commitment takes many forms, from community dialogue to specialized, inclusive care. One of these examples comes to life through our partnership with Národní ústav pro autismus - Nautis, supporting Ukrainian refugee families navigating autism through specialized counselling, therapy, and social integration.

We extend our gratitude to the work of our local partners, as well as our dedicated staff and donors who make this daily accompaniment possible. Together, we remain committed to building inclusive communities where everyone receives the practical support they need to thrive.

Connecting with Local Communities in Bruntál!

We recently took a trip to visit our partners at ČCE in Bruntál, where the local parish Jakodoma organized a wonderful ecumenical evening featuring local music, community discussions, and the film Jan Hus. Even though a little schedule mix-up meant missing the open-air event itself, the trip turned into a truly inspiring highlight!

We had the privilege of sitting down and spending quality time with the parish’s remarkable pastor, Jana Peřtová Jana Crown, a multitalented leader, composer, songwriter, animator, former jazz singer, the list can be continued...😊

Pastorka Jana brings incredible energy, heart, and creativity to her community. She works extensively with local families, as well as Ukrainian children, including orphans and widows, bringing light, music, and support where it is needed most.

During our visit, she shared details about their powerful creative project PLAN/E and the song "Blízko je" ("It's close"). Performed in both Czech and Ukranian, the song features local and Ukranian children singing together. We love the message behind the Project name:
Life doesn’t stop at Plan A, B, or C - there is always another way forward, and there is always hope 💛💙

For the third consecutive year, LWF Prague supported RefuFest, one of the Czech Republic's leading multicultural festivals organized by InBáze, z. s., an experienced Czech NGO working in the field of migration and integration.
The festival was supported through our FICUS (Fostering Inter-Cultural Understanding and Sensitivity in Czech Republic) project, funded by the Evangelische Landeskirche in Württemberg.
More than a festival, RefuFest creates opportunities for people from different backgrounds to meet naturally, discover one another's cultures, and build new friendships.

to when Prague's Štvanice Island came alive with solidarity to commemorate World Refugee Day 2026! 🌳✨
Visitors explored diverse stands, sharing cultural heritage through unique souvenirs and traditional costumes during RefuFest organized by InBáze, z. s. within LWF Prague project Fostering Inter-Cultural Understanding and Sensitivity (FICUS) with financial support by Evangelische Landeskirche in Württemberg (ELCW).
We are so proud to support these shared spaces where refugees and locals connect, weaving a more compassionate social fabric together. 🤝🌎
