📚 READING MARATHON — We’re joining, and you can listen!
The Ústí nad Labem Regional Library is hosting 130 hours of continuous reading, both onsite and online.

Hint: Two familiar characters 👇 from a 🇩🇰 literary classic — can you guess?

🏛️ The marathon commemorates the 130th anniversary of the founding of the German library in Ústí nad Labem.
📖 Around 200 readers are participating, including authors, public figures, and cultural partners of the library.
🦉 A charitable component is included this year: throughout February, donations can be made to a transparent bank account supporting rescue stations and organizations caring for wild animals.

Reading continuously for 130 hours is ambitious. ⏳💪 Listening in is easy!

🎉 Happy anniversary to the library Knihovna Ústeckého kraje!
Did you know the regional library is housed in historically and architecturally notable buildings?

One of them is the palace villa commissioned by prominent Ústí textile entrepreneur Carl Hermann Wolfrum (1872–1956) and designed by German architect Ernst Rentsch. Its Neoclassical façade has been preserved in an almost unchanged form, while the interiors feature original wooden paneling and finely crafted structural details.

Another villa was commissioned by Ústí coal magnate Hans Weinmann (1885–1960), with plans drawn up by German architect Paul Brockardt (1882–1941). Construction took place between 1929 and 1930. The public section of the library is housed here today. Although Weinmann lived in the villa only briefly, emigrating in 1940 after being classified as an enemy of the Reich, his family later settled in North America and the library maintains friendly relations with them.

High energy at our “Back to Business” event in Prague 🚀
Members make the Chamber — and shape what comes next!
Our BUSINESS MIXER at the Embassy of Sweden in Czechia was opened by the President of the Chamber, Björn Mattsson, welcoming new members and thanking our General Partner YIT Česká republika and sponsor Volvo Car Česká republika.
Björn also gave a preview of plans for 2026, including new events, the continued Mentoring Programme, and the Awards.

The Ambassador of Sweden H.E. Håkan Jevrell welcomed the business community and addressed the audience: “Nordic cooperation is rooted in trust, innovation, and openness,” Ambassador Jevrell noted. “The Nordic Chamber plays a vital role in translating these values into practical business partnerships here in Czechia.”

Our Honorary Chairman, H.E. Søren Kelstrup, Ambassador of Denmark, underlined the importance of the Chamber’s platform for regional collaboration:
“This network demonstrates how Nordic companies can work together across borders while contributing positively to the Czech economy,” the Ambassador said. “Events like this are essential for building long-term commercial relationships.”

Our newly appointed Executive Director
Lenka Simerska said she sees the Chamber standing as a benchmark for Nordic values here in Czechia.
