We are volunteers and our mission is to help international students on exchange. ESN VUT Brno is a voluntary organisation, founded thanks to the desire to help Erasmus students. There are more than 500 ESN sections from over 40 European countries and around 15 000 students who believe in the Erasmus spirit. es at the Brno University of Technology. Helping Erasmus students and making their everyday life much easier and more exciting is not only our mission, but also our passion. All the events, trips, parties, Pick-up and Buddy systems are organized selflessly by our members without the aim to be paid. Our purpose and the reason why we do such a thing, because we like the idea of the Erasmus exchange programme and because we believe in the true Erasmus spirit! The roots of our section go to the academic year of 2003/2004 when our first president Marketa Dostalova founded International Students Club after already providing help to Erasmus students on her own for the last two years. In those dark days, there were only about 20-30 adventure-seeking students at the whole university and she was the only local student to help them. And so within the meaning of “the more the merrier '', the International Students Club of Brno University of Technology was created to help Erasmus students and to promote Erasmus studies outside as well as inside our University. And that's how this adventure began. :-)
In the spring of 2007, we sent our volunteers to help organise the legendary AGM in Prague and later the same year, we became a regular ESN section. Our section grew and today, we take care of more than 500 incoming Erasmus students every year. In the spring of 2014, we organized a Big National Platform (assembly for all the members of ESN Czech Republic) in Litomyšl. An enormous challenge for our section, but we managed it. Another National Platform took place in the centre of Brno city, which was a unique step forward. As successful with organising we were, there was no other choice than try it once again in 2019 in Zubří. In 2020, we finally became an official statutory organ ESN VUT Brno z.s. (registered organisation). In the list of our biggest achievements, we include winning prizes called Star Awards granted by ESN International for Mov’in Europe, the annual event held at BUT to raise awareness of mobility, studying and working abroad, an IT star award for project Fiesta, the website helping to connect our members with Erasmus students and last but not least an award for Section Cooperation with two other sections from Brno – ESN MUNI Brno and ESN MENDELU Brno. No! We will go on!
