The Baltic Code of Signals, by Isabella Martinisabella.r.martin, takes inspiration from traditional maritime signal flags to create a visual language for the Baltic Sea.🚩

Presented in Bornholm, the reimagined flags bring together local knowledge, scientific research and observations of the Baltic and its changing environment.

Ocean Confessional, created by Pete Fung Ho Ching and Samein Shamsher, invited people to reflect on their personal impact on the sea by anonymously writing down their “sins against the sea”.

Artist Clara Jo has been exploring the Turku Archipelago as part of her residency project, Living Archive of Water. 🌊

Hosted by CAA Contemporary Art Archipelago, her research for Living Archive of Water included an Interspecies Assembly hosted by the Centre for Sustainable Ocean Science (SOS) at Åbo Akademi University, and a Co-Creation Workshop co-organised with the Archipelago Sea Biosphere Reserve.

The research will feed into Clara’s work exploring life around the Baltic Sea and the memories, experiences and stories held by its waters.
