Ο Πρόεδρος και το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο του Begafigo Begafigo συγχαίρει το μέλος μας Δρ. Σοφία Παπαμιχαλόπουλου OLY για την εκλογή της ως Αντιπρόεδρος στο Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο της WorldSailing, στα πλαίσια του Ετήσιου και Εκλογικού Συνεδρίου 2025 που έλαβε χώρα στο Dún Laoghaire της Ιρλανδίας.

Η Σοφία συγκέντρωσε τους περισσότερους ψήφους απο το σύνολο των υποψηφίων, και είναι η πρώτη φορά που Κύπρια/ος καταλαμβάνει αυτή την θέση, γεγονός που αποτελεί μεγάλη τιμή για την Κύπρο και τον Όμιλο μας.

“CAPE GRECO REGATTA ’’

NOTICE OF RACE

1. ORGANIZING AUTHORITY
The Famagusta District Sailing Club (BEGAFIGO) and Ayia Napa Marina organize the Cape Greco Regatta 2025.

2. RULES
2.1 The regatta will be governed by the following rules and regulations:
• The racing rules of sailing (RRS) 2025 – 2028
• The O.R.C. Rating System Rule 2025
• International Measurement System – IMS 2025
• The ISAF Offshore Special Regulations 2024-2025 Category 4 (WS Offshore Special Regulations 2024 – 2025 for Race Category 4 monohulls)
• No national prescriptions will apply.
2.2. If there is a conflict between languages, English text will take precedence.
3. VENUE
The event will be sailed on the water of Ayia Napa and Protaras.
4. ADVERTISING
4.1 WS Advertising Code will apply. Competitors & Boats advertising will be without restriction.
4.2 Event Advertising by the Organizing Authority will be:
a) Bow numbers with advertisements which have to be displayed, as forward as possible on both sides of the hull.
b) An Organizer’s flag has to be flown on the backstay throughout the race.
5. ELIGIBILITY
Competitors shall comply with WS Eligibility Code. The regatta is open to all boats with valid ORC International or ORC Club certificate.
Boats without any ORC certificate shall contact prior the final registration day Race Officer at [email protected]
The race technical staff will help to find appropriate data and with the spar and sail measurements, an indicative ORC Club handicap will be provided.

6. CLASSES
6.1 There will be overall results of all boats and class results extrapolated from the overall results.
6.2 Boats will be divided in classes according to their ratings. Class limits will be based on the final entry list. The decision for class divisions will be made by the Race Committee.
7. ENTRIES
7.1 Entries should be submitted by Tuesday 30th September 2025.The entries can be sent via email to [email protected] .

7.2 There is no Entry fee for the race.
7.3 All boats wishing to berth at Ayia Napa Marina need to get in touch with the Marina complete and return the appropriate forms and a copy of their boat Third Party Insurance.
8. SCHEDULE
Ayia Napa Marina Saturday 4/10/2025, Cape Greco Regatta Program:
• 0900 – Briefing and registrations at Ayia Napa Marina area ‘THE POSEIDON DECK’.
• 11:30 - Start of race.
• Course 22NM : Ayia Napa Marina – Protaras Pier – Ayia Napa Marina.
The Course may be shortened according to the weather conditions.
To be announced at the briefing.
• 1900 - Prize giving Ceremony at Ayia Napa Marina area ‘THE SUN DECK’.

9. TIME CORRECTION SYSTEM
“Time-on-time” Offshore ratings will be used for the scoring of the race.
10. SCORING
The Low Point Scoring System of RRS Appendix A is changed so that all scores will be counted toward the total score and no discard is allowed.
21. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Sailing Instructions will be available on Skipper’s Meeting.
12. RADIO COMMUNICATION
12.1 The Race Committee may broadcast information to the fleet on VHF channel 72 at the start and finish.
12.2 VHF channels 16 and 72 will be continuously monitored by the Race Committee while racing.
12.3 Except in an emergency or when communicating with the Race Committee, a boat that is racing shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or data communication that is not available to all boats.
13. SAFETY REGULATIONS
A boat that retires from a race shall notify the race committee, as soon as possible providing the following information:
• Bow Number
• Boat Name
• Time and position at the moment of retirement
• Reason for retirement
14. MOORINGS
14.1 For boats arriving from ports/Marinas outside Ayia Napa Marina, the Organizing Club has made the following arrangement with the Ayia Napa Marina authorities:
- On 3/10 or 5/10 : 30% Discount on Daily Rates as the table below
- On 4/10 : The berthing will be Complimentary by Ayia Napa Marina
Daily Berthing Rates:
Up to 10m EUR 60
10-11 EUR 80
11-12 EUR 90
12-13 EUR 95
13-14 EUR 105
14-15 EUR 110
This fee also includes the cost of electricity and water.
The moorings will be occupied under the entire responsibility of the skipper of each boat.

15. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the “CAPE GRECO REGATTA 2025” entirely at their own risk and responsibility. Special Attention is drawn to RRS 4 “Decision to Race”.
The Organizing Authority, and any other party involved in the organization of the “CAPE GRECO REGATTA 2025” disclaim any and all responsibility whatsoever for loss, damage injury or inconvenience that might occur to persons and materials, both ashore and at sea as a consequence of participation in the event. Each boat owner or his representative accepts these terms by signing the entry form. The attention of competitors is drawn to ISAF Part 1 Fundamental Rule 4: A boat is solely responsible for deciding whether or not to start or to continue racing.
16. PRIZES
16.1 Prizes will be given to the 1st , 2nd and 3rd winner in each class.
16.2 Prizes will be given to the 1st , 2nd and 3rd overall winners.

NOTICE OF RACE

2. RULES

- The daily cost for the Mooring will be €15 (Fifteen euros) per boat per day including Vat. This fee also includes the cost of electricity and water.
There will be a deposit fee of €5 (five euros) for issuing an access card which is refundable with the return to the Marina Office before departure.
The moorings will be occupied under the entire responsibility of the skipper of each boat.

Congratulations to our very own, Andreas Andreou, Peter Fowler and Andreas Christoforou, who participated over the past four days in the Masters’ National Championship organised by CYSAF in Limassol and swept all three positions of the podium. 👏👏

Having finished racing Commodore, Andreas Andreou, and Vice- President of CYSAF, Andreas Christoforou participated also in the prize giving ceremony of the ILCA6 and Optimists National Championships, giving young athletes their prizes. 🏆🎖️🥇
