It's June... It's getting hotter... but we're still here, so as well as all our regular activities, keep an eye out for all the following extra June events at the club.
Following the Folk & Music night, which is on this Thursday 4th June, you can look forward to another visit from 'Sax Avenue' - the 'saxy' trio formally known as the 'Sax Offenders' are here on Saturday 13th - they bring a fabulous collection of sultry tunes, that will get you up and dancing, even on a warm June evening.
In dramatic contrast the next Film Night offering on Friday 19th is 'Nuremburg,' for which Russell Crowe was nominated for an Oscar. Then get your teams ready for on the following Friday 26th it's another of our ever popular 'Skittles' Nights - and yes, we have the real things - it's lots of fun and only the skittles get hurt... usually! Don't forget to book your food choices for any of these events, at least 3 days beforehand so that the cooks have plenty of notice to get the shopping in! For more about these and all our Regular Activities see the website at www.PhoenixPaphos.com

Are you coming to see The Dots next week? It's always a brilliant night with Louise & Indigo doing the entertaining, not to mention the excellent company and food - so why not get involved too?
It doesn't need to be for the whole night.
This could be a great chance to try your hand at helping out behind the bar - if it seems too much to learn all at once, just restocking the fridges for half an hour saves the bar 'staff' a job. Can't move around much? Well, maybe you could learn to operate the till and deal with the money for the servers when they're busy.
Not your scene? Ask about joining in with the team who sets up the tables, or helps out in the kitchens and if you like to get out of your seat occasionally during an evening, why not join the folk sorting out the raffle, or help the ladies selling the 1/2 time ice-creams - it's a great way to meet more people and to get to know the routine behind the little extras that make the Club 'work'.
The fact that we can all help out in one way or another is what gives the club its 'family' feel and you are more than welcome to join the family!
Give Sandra a ring on 96271211 she can let you know what opportunities there are to help out at any particular event and how to go about learning the ropes- and if you haven't yet booked for next Saturday, then put your name down in the Yellow Events Folder or give Wendy a call on 96784377

Do you have an art or craft project that's been hanging around uncompleted, or even un-started for years?

Or do you fancy trying something new but don't know how to start?

Or do you need a bit of a push to get back to the knitting/sewing/painting/card making/beading/quilting/anything! that you enjoyed for years, but somehow have drifted away from.

Tuesday afternoons at the Club are where you should be, with welcoming like-minded people who can offer help - if it's wanted - or just quiet company to get on with your own thing, whether you are talented or just trying!

Plenty of books & other resources to provide you with ideas, and a great way to unwind for just a couple of hours of 'me' time.

Give it a try - it's free for club members, €2 for non-members and you can just walk in at 2pm and say hello, or give Sandra a call on 96271211 if you have any questions beforehand.

This year's AGM is now over. Thank you to all the stalwarts who were part of last year's committee and have now stood down. They helped guide the club through a challenging year of changes and have now handed over an organisation that is still vibrant and fiscally viable. And now ... Congratulations to the new committee - some old faces, some new, who have taken up the reins or have agreed to carry on for another exacting term!

All the roles required for running the club are now filled (although, as always, volunteer helpers are always encouraged to join these lead members - even if your skill is just to wash a few tea towels, every little helps and is truly valued)

Thank-you to all the members who turned out to support the Club- and made sure we acheived the required numbers for a quorum. AGM's are not usually known to be the most entertaining of events but as usual the morning proceeded with the minimum of fuss - and a good deal of appreciation and friendliness - not to mention excellent bacon or egg butties at the end.

A great night was had at the Tattoo on Saturday. Thanks to everyone who attended and especially to the cooks for providing such an excellent buffet. It was amazing experiencing the Tattoo on such a huge screen - but hard to take meaningful pictures in the dark... here are a few of earlier in the evening, including the 'Scottish' display and more info can be found on the St Andrew Group website ( www.standrewgroup.com ) if you are interested.
