Exhibition: The Pearls of Occitania – The Castles of the Cathars

The “Museum of the Templar Ages”, in collaboration with OSMTJ Foundation Cyprus and “Balticum Ordo Templi”, invites residents and visitors to Cyprus to attend the photography exhibition “Pearls of Occitania – The Castles of Cathar” by French photographer Philippe Contal. The exhibition will take place at the Museum of the Templar Ages in the village of Pano Arodes and will be a unique event. The photographs will be exhibited in Cyprus for the first time; previously, the exhibition has been shown in France, Belgium, Spain, and Latvia, and the Museum of the Templar Era will host an international exhibition for the first time. The exhibition will open on June 6 and run for five months.

The aim of the exhibition is to strengthen cultural ties between Cyprus and France and to foster cooperation in the fields of art and history. It seeks to spark interest in the culture, traditions, heritage, and natural diversity of France, and to introduce viewers to the majestic structures that constitute Europe’s historical and cultural heritage.

A series of photographs created by photographer Philippe Contal between 2013 and 2016 will offer the opportunity to witness the beauty and splendor of the landscapes of the Occitanie region in southern France, revealing to visitors the romance of the mysterious Cathar castles, which were seen and remembered by the troubadours who sang of love, and which also witnessed the tragedy of the Albigensian Crusade.
Through Philippe Contal’s lens, the castles are viewed from an unusual perspective.

The viewer is immersed in the sacred mystery of the earthly and the heavenly, light and darkness, life and eternity. Thanks to the photographer’s skill, the exhibition helps broaden one’s perception and encourages the exploration and study of historical heritage.
Hosting the exhibition at the Museum of the Templar Ages in Pano Arodes will allow the attentive viewer to draw their own parallels and highlights the common roots of Europe and its values.
We welcome all lovers of chivalric history to the Museum of the Templar Ages for a fascinating journey into the world of the mysteries of the Cathar castles.

🐍 No more snakes will go through the cage. Here is a nice way to spend an evening in a company of friends to make the life of dogs more safe. It's pretty easy to make a fence and spend time with doggies at the same time. Stray Haven is looking for the volunteers from time to time so feel free to reach them out and make a good thing together!

A dog has been found in the village of Arodesa. She is very affectionate and friendly with people and other dogs. She is calm and doesn’t destroy anything in the house.

She is currently in our foster care and is eagerly waiting for a loving family. If you or someone you know is looking for a true and loyal friend to join your family, please come visit and meet her!

✅ The project context:
The ongoing conflict in Palestine has severely affected young people has become the main space for communication and civic participation among young people, but at the same time, it is an environment where fake news, propaganda, and manipulative narratives spread rapidly. Young people with experience of war, forced displacement, and social exclusion are particularly vulnerable: they face information attacks and monopolization of the agenda. At the same time, the legal and ethical risks of public expression and activism online often remain unclear to young people themselves and those who support them. Consultations with partners confirmed a common request: practical and inclusive tools are needed to simultaneously develop critical thinking, protect against manipulation, and support the safe participation of young people in online public life.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE:
🦾 This will be a training course aimed at preparing youth workers for social activism in the media, as well as teaching youth workers to share media activism practices, so it would be great if the participants include those who are already involved in this or interested in this subject.

⛏ On Sunday, volunteers from , together with Πράσινη Ασπίδα - Green Shield , came together to plant trees on the slopes near the village of Suny. Working side by side, we added new life to the landscape, with each young tree representing a step toward a greener and more sustainable future. Thanks to the rainy winter ahead, the trees will have time to take root, and in spring we will return to the hillside to check on their growth, care for them, and give them their first seasonal watering.

✨ New Year Gratitude Visit

🎄On New Year’s Eve, our organization’s volunteers went out to say thank you to those who stay on duty while others celebrate.

🐰We visited firefighters, police officers, and hospital staff — people who protect, help, and save lives every day, even during the holidays.
With warm words, smiles, and New Year wishes, we wanted to remind them that their work truly matters and is deeply appreciated.

Today, we’re asking for your help.

This December 31st, while the world prepares to celebrate, some people will be spending their day in a hospital room, recovering from trauma.

We want to change that, even just for a moment.

Two of our volunteers wish to visit in cheerful costumes, share some time, and hand out small gifts—to bring a spark of holiday spirit to those who need it most.

We are not asking for funds.
We are asking for a connection.

We need help to organize this visit officially in Paphos, Polis and Limassol area. If you have experience with, or contacts in, hospital administration or healthcare—someone who can help us get the green light for a safe, legal visit—you are the person we need.
