On Wednesday, 6th May, the Confucius Institute at the Cyprus University of Technology successfully hosted the 25th Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for University Students and the General Public in Cyprus. Held under the theme “One World, One Family,” the event highlighted the spirit of cultural exchange and friendship through language and artistic expression.
Participants captivated both the judges and the audience with inspiring speeches, excellent command of the Chinese language, and vibrant cultural performances that reflected their passion and dedication to Chinese culture.

🏆𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞 was awarded to Ms Savva Maria, a student at the University of Cyprus, who will represent Cyprus at the Global Final in China this summer.
🎖️𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞 was awarded to Ms Evanthia Krasia, also a student at the University of Cyprus, who will attend the competition in China as a member of the audience.

We would like to thank the Confucius Institute at the Cyprus University of Technology for organizing this competition and for providing students across Cyprus with the valuable opportunity to participate, develop their skills, and deepen their knowledge of the Chinese language and culture.

On May 16, the Confucius Institute at the University of Cyprus successfully organized the 2026 HSK and HSKK examinations. Candidates participated in the written tests and the speaking tests.
Through careful preparation and smooth coordination, all exams were conducted efficiently and in an orderly manner. As the first and only official test center in Cyprus, the Confucius Institute at University of Cyprus remains committed to supporting Chinese language education and providing local learners with professional testing opportunities.
The 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭 (𝐇𝐒𝐊) (汉语水平考试) is an internationally recognized standardized exam for non-native speakers, designed to assess Chinese language proficiency in everyday, academic, and professional contexts through a unified testing and scoring system.
The HSK certificate can open pathways to higher education in China, including university admission and scholarships, as well as enhance career opportunities in fields such as international business, translation, tourism, and other professions requiring Chinese language proficiency.

We would like to inform you that the Confucius Institute at the University of Cyprus will hold the first 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 from May to June 2026.

The training is designed for Chinese language teaching volunteers, prospective teachers, and related practitioners with little or no formal training, this program centers on four core questions: what to teach, how to teach, what resources to use, and how to assess learning.

The program covers professional awareness in international Chinese language teaching, Chinese culture teaching, Chinese linguistic knowledge and pedagogy, children’s Chinese language teaching, the HSK/YCT examination systems, instructional design, methods for teaching listening, speaking, reading and writing, and microteaching practice. It aims to help participants build a systematic entry-level framework within a short period of time and begin the transition from “being able to speak Chinese” to “being able to teach Chinese at a basic level.”

𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚: This training program is primarily intended for individuals in Cyprus who are interested in engaging in Chinese language teaching and hold a bachelor’s degree or above. Eligible applicants include overseas Chinese, as well as Cypriot nationals or individuals of other nationalities who have attained HSK Level 6 or above in Chinese proficiency.

The group "To Kamateron," with the support of the Confucius Institute at the University of Cyprus, the Kalavasos Community Council, and other partners hosted the 2nd Silk Festival on Friday, 1 May 2026, offering a full-day immersive cultural experience dedicated to the history, art, and living tradition of silk.

Held under the theme “The Journey of Silk: From China to Cyprus,” the festival highlighted the longstanding cultural ties between the two countries, blending history, artistic expression, and modern cultural interaction. Visitors had the opportunity to explore a variety of exhibitions displaying silk artworks and textiles from both Cyprus and China, as well as a silk handicrafts market featuring unique handmade pieces. Interactive activities formed an important part of the festival, with morning and afternoon workshops led by Cypriot and Chinese artisans, giving participants the chance to discover traditional silk-making methods and creative practices. The artistic programme further enriched the event through: demonstrations of Chinese martial arts, a Tai Chi fan🪭 dance performance, live Chinese songs, and official speeches in the central square.

Designed as a multi-layered cultural experience, the Silk Festival successfully combined tradition, education, and live performance, creating a vibrant platform that bridged generations and cultures. 🏮⛩️
