Cyprus Freshwater Angling Association

Cyprus Freshwater Angling Association CFAA Official page The Cyprus Freshwater Angling Association was born as a brainchild of several freshwater anglers several years ago.

After a many-month period of serious effort, including nonstop and dedicated work, the Association became a reality in October 2005. The first Association concerned solely with freshwater fishing in Cyprus has now been created. This is a non-profit Association, with aims to promoting freshwater fishing, by making sure that the relevant laws are observed (and wherever necessary improved), the better supervision of dam management, the introduction of fishing competitions, the organization of fishing seminars, the suggestions for introduction of new freshwater fish, the better management of existing fish, the development of fishing culture as an active sport, the reinforcement of environmental consciousness, and many more. The support to the aims of the Association, especially from persons who really love the sport is extremely important, as well as from those who can assist in the Association functioning to the best of its potential by various means. We want to believe that this sincere effort will be appreciated and reinforced by the whole of the angler population.

The fourth competition of the Maxfishing Cyprus Bass Fishing Championship 2026 was a two-day event, held over the weekend of September 19–20, 2026, at Arminou and Asprokremmos dams respectively.
This was the second two-day competition of this year’s championship and, more generally, the first time that two two-day events have been held in the same season.
Overall, fish activity was quite limited. A total of 33 fish were caught over the two days, 23 of which were caught at Arminou on the first day, while only 10 were caught at Asprokremmos on the second day.
The top three anglers were the only competitors who managed to reach the limit of five fish over the two days. Louis Katsantonis emerged as the winner of the event, with Dmitri Brylev finishing in second place and Pantelis Iona in third.
The biggest fish of the day, measuring 46 centimetres, was caught by Giannis Sh*ttas.

Τέλος, όπως πάντα ευχαριστούμε τους χορηγούς μας για το 2026, Moondog, Maxfishing Cyprus, Eyespot Optical House@, Rabbit Hop, Webmors και το ελεγκτικό γραφείο The Practice.

On Saturday, July 11, for the 19th year, the children’s fishing event took place at Agios Georgio’s park in Athalassa. The event was dedicated to the memory of the former President and for many years Member of the Association, Phivos Papachristoforou.
The event was a success as the fish were quite active, making our little friends very happy. All the small fishermen managed to catch fish of different species. All fish caught were carefully released back into the water. The event was not only entertaining, but also informative and educational since the children had the opportunity to learn the types of fish in the fresh waters of Cyprus, the basic fishing techniques and the importance of “Catch & Release”.
We would like to thank our sponsor Eyespot Optical House and friend Kleanthis for providing two pairs of children’s sunglasses for the draw between the participants.
At the same time, a big thank you to the Department of Fisheries and the Department of Forests for granting the relevant permits for this event to take place.
Finally, as always, we thank our sponsors for 2026, Moondog's, Maxfishing Cyprus, Eyespot Optical House, Rabbit Hop, Webmors and the audit office The Practice. Their contribution is valuable to the Association’s work.

Τέλος, ευχαριστούμε όλους τους χορηγούς του Συνδέσμου για το 2026: Maxfishing Cyprus, Moondog's, Eyespot Optical House, Rabbit Hop, Webmors και το ελεγκτικό γραφείο The Practice.
