We would like to thank all the friends and members of the Cyprus Swiss Association, who joined us yesterday evening for the exquisite culinary experience at COR Gastronomy in Limassol. We enjoyed a fusion of Swiss & Cypriot flavours created by award winning chef Chris Theofanous with SEG Culinary Arts Academy pastry chef, Benjamin Estienne, together with w**e from the canton of Valais kindly offered by the Embassy of Switzerland in Cyprus. A big thank you to our partners, Eugenios Savva and the SEG Swiss Education Group Cyprus and Greece for making our Fine Dining event an evening to remember!

🇨🇭 Staying at the top for 5 consecutive years is definitely praiseworthy. Swiss efficiency at its best!

🚆🇨🇭 Zürich HB has taken the top spot in the European Railway Station Index for the fifth year in a row!

The 2026 ranking assessed 60 of Europe’s largest railway stations, looking at factors including delays, waiting times, accessibility, connections and services. Zürich scored 101 points, just ahead of Paris Gare du Nord with 100.5. Bern also made the top five, while Lucerne ranked 14th.

Swiss stations stood out particularly for reliability. Lucerne recorded the lowest share of delayed trains in the entire ranking, at just 0.3%, followed by Bern at 1.8%. Zürich HB came sixth on this measure, at 4.2%.

Not bad for a country where catching the train is part of everyday life. 🚉

From 10 to 18 October 2026, the International Festival of Performing Arts for Children and Young People, “Mitsikouri,” will present 14 productions from 11 countries in Cyprus.

The festival features theatre, dance, contemporary circus, participatory and inclusive performances, as well as productions that combine different forms of artistic expression.
Productions from France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Japan, Switzerland, Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Sweden, Luxembourg and Cyprus make up a diverse and varied program.
🇨🇭 Switzerland will be represented by Moritz Praxmarer with the theatre production “The Story of Larry.”

Did you know Swiss cats don't pay tax? Dogs must be registered and taxed annually (commonly CHF 100–200, depending on the municipality) but cats get a pass entirely.

There's more: Swiss law also says a lone cat must have regular contact with people or visual contact with other cats, because company isn't optional for feline wellbeing here. And if a cat wanders into next door's garden to nap or mark its territory? Neighbours have to live with it! Swiss law treats this as natural behaviour beyond an owner's control.

Cats even ride the train free in a carrier. With around 1.85 million pet cats nationwide, Switzerland is clearly a cat-friendly place.

Should other countries adopt any of these rules?
