Our mission is to facilitate Women’s role in politics, the economy and society

The International Association for the Promotion of Women of Europe (AIPFE) was set up in Brussels in 1987 by Mrs. Rodi Kratsa, who was then a member and later Vice-President of the European Parliament. The Cyprus chapter was established in 2001, aiming to disseminate the idea of European citizenship and to encourage the involvement of women in civil society in Cyprus and abroad. Through its part

icipation in the Femme d’ Europe award, AIPFE has also managed to promote the work of three extraordinary Cypriot women through the European network of participants: Stella Kyriakidou for her work with Europa Donna, Photini Papadopoulou for her work with the Red Cross and Tasoula Hadjitofi for her involvement in the restitution of stolen art treasures back to Cyprus.

It has been an enlightening day for AIPFE's Vice President Thalia Kyrris Iacovou in Brussels during the CARDET EUPP5 Cyprus Presidency trip.

Today's highlights:

Met with CONCORD Europe (the European confederation of NGOs) to discuss disseminating EU policies and capturing the needs of civil society organizations.

Attended Cyprus Forum panel discussions on affordable EU healthcare, the future of Europe, youth engagement, strategic EU growth, and security.

Built connections with inspiring NGOs: Friends of the Earth Cyprus - Φίλοι της Γης Κύπρου think tank and Civil Society Advocates

A truly rewarding day, as all topics align perfectly with AIPFE's work and initiatives around empowerment and connection.

AIPFE Cyprus, dedicated to empowering, motivating, and connecting women, kicked off the new year with an inspiring brunch filled with connection, celebration, and meaningful dialogue 💬💖

The highlight of the day was AIPFE’s signature speed networking, where participants came together in six dynamic circles to explore thought-provoking questions around professional skills, future aspirations, and personal growth 🚀🌱 Honest conversations, shared stories, and powerful narratives led to genuine connections and new beginnings 🤝✨

The experience was beautifully complemented by a delicious brunch 🥐☕, the traditional cutting of the Vasilopita 🍰, and heartfelt wishes from AIPFE Cyprus President Despina Papadopoulou for a happy, healthy, and creative 2026 🌟

AIPFE Cyprus is delighted to partner with on EU Presidency Project 5 (EUP).

This civil-society led initiative, funded by the European Commission, runs through the EU Council Presidency Trio of Poland, Denmark and Cyprus between October 2024 to September 2026.

As proud supporters, we will join events fostering inclusive dialogue among civil society, EU institutions and national stakeholders- advancing the Presidency’s vision in Cyprus and across Europe.

The project launches on January 23 at the Presidential Palace, with AIPFE Board members in attendance.

For the past three years, AIPFE Cyprus has been actively working to elevate menopause on the national policy agenda, engaging government departments and hosting impactful events to drive awareness 💬🏛️
