Και κάπως έτσι… μια νέα χρονιά γεμάτη μουσική, φιλίες και όμορφες στιγμές μόλις ξεκίνησε! 🎶

Οι πρώτες αυτές εβδομάδες είναι γεμάτες νέες γνωριμίες, καθώς καλωσορίζουμε νέους μουσικούς στην οικογένεια του Sistema Cyprus, συναντάμε ξανά γνώριμα πρόσωπα, γεμίζουμε τους χώρους μας με μουσική και ξεκινάμε δουλειά για όλα όσα έρχονται!

Και τι χρονιά έχουμε μπροστά μας! ✨
Ξεχωριστές συναυλίες, συναρπαστικά projects, νέες εμπειρίες, πολλά ταξίδια ✈️ και, πάνω απ’ όλα, πολλές στιγμές που θα ζήσουμε μαζί. ✌🏻

Ανυπομονούμε να δούμε πού θα μας ταξιδέψει η μουσική φέτος. 💛

And just like that… a new year of music, friendships and memories has begun! 🎶

These first few weeks have been all about welcoming new young musicians to our Sistema Cyprus family, seeing familiar faces again, filling our spaces with music, and getting to work on everything that lies ahead. ✌🏻

And what a year we have coming! ✨ Special concerts, exciting projects, new experiences, lots of travelling ✈️ and, most importantly, lots of moments to share together.

We can’t wait to see where the music takes us this year. 💛

Five inspiring days at Fire Up Europe 2026! 👏

At the beginning of September, Sistema Cyprus had the privilege of participating in Fire Up Europe 2026, the annual residency of the Academy for Impact through Music (AIM), bringing together social music programmes from across Europe to explore how music can create meaningful change for children, young people and communities.

This year, our team participated in different roles.

✨ Nikoletta Polydorou, our Executive Director and Co-founder of Sistema Cyprus, joined the residency as Guest Faculty, designing and facilitating sessions on leadership, reflection and Action Research.

🎼 Our Artistic Director, Santiago Ossa, together with Anastasia Nikolaidou, Teaching Artist and conductor of our Beginner Strings Orchestra, and Andreas Georgiou, Coordinator of our Larnaca Wind Orchestras and Community Music Facilitator, participated in the residency alongside colleagues from across Europe, reflecting on their work and bringing new ideas back to Sistema Cyprus.

Beyond the workshops, Fire Up created space for conversations, collaboration, shared music-making and meaningful connections between colleagues working in different contexts but united by a common purpose.

We return to Cyprus inspired, challenged and energised, with new ideas that will continue shaping our work with children, young people and communities throughout the coming year.

A heartfelt thank you to the Academy for Impact through Music, the Fire Up faculty and participants, and Reggio Children for creating such a thoughtful, generous and inspiring learning environment.

We are grateful to be part of the AIM community that continues to believe in the power of music to strengthen learning, relationships and participation.

A special thank you to Ivan González for beautifully documenting the residency through his photographs, capturing not only the music but also the relationships, learning and moments that made the week so memorable.

How can young musicians grow from participation to taking on a more active role within their music communities ❓🏘

Student to Leader (S2L) is a project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme and implemented by Sistema Cyprus, El Sistema Greece and Trillargento, focusing on youth leadership through social music education. 🇨🇾 ➕ 🇬🇷 ➕ 🇮🇹 🟰 🇪🇺

Young musicians from Cyprus, Greece and Italy will receive training and gain practical experience by taking on active roles within their music communities, with appropriate guidance and support. 🫂 🎶

In 2027, participants will come together in Athens 🇬🇷 as part of an international music event, bringing their local experience into an international environment of exchange and collaboration. The project will also lead to the development of a shared methodology and tools for youth leadership through music.

And he’s off! A new musical journey begins today! 🇪🇸

Today, Haider Naji departed for Madrid, where he will begin his studies in Double Bass at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid. 🎶

We are incredibly proud to see Haider take this exciting next step. Reaching this moment is a reflection of his immense talent, determination and years of hard work, and we couldn’t be happier to see where his musical journey is taking him.

A very special thank you to his Double Bass teacher, Lucas Kerkyras, for his dedication, guidance and support throughout Haider’s journey. ❤️🫶

🎵 PAID MENTORSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR MUSIC PROFESSIONALS IN CYPRUS 🎵

Are you an experienced music professional ready to help emerging artists build sustainable careers in the music industry?

This call is for you!

Sistema Cyprus is looking for 5 professional music mentors to join the Creative Europe project MusicACT: Activating Careers in Music for Youth, in collaboration with El Sistema Greece, Trillargento (Italy), and the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía (Spain).

As a mentor, you will:
🎼 Mentor three young music students of Sistema Cyprus
💡 Share your expertise and industry insights
🚀 Support participants in achieving meaningful career milestones
🎤 Integrate your mentees into one of your own artistic projects, giving them the opportunity to perform in a professional setting

Compensation:
💶 Total remuneration: €1,900
• €1,000 Mentor Fee
• €900 Production Budget (€300 per mentee) to support mentorship-related activities, including the mentees fees.

Who can apply?
Professional musicians actively working in the music industry in Cyprus.

📅 Mentorship period: October 2026 – September 2027
📍 Locations: Nicosia and/or Larnaca

Deadline: Sunday, 12th of July
