Συγχαρητήρια σε όλους 🇨🇾

📢 Πρώτη συμμετοχή της Κύπρου στη Διεθνή Ολυμπιάδα Τεχνητής Νοημοσύνης με 4 χάλκινα μετάλλια και 2 εύφημες μνείες

Η Κύπρος συμμετείχε για πρώτη φορά στη International Olympiad in AI, κατακτώντας τέσσερα χάλκινα μετάλλια και δύο εύφημες μνείες. Οι οκτώ μαθητές της κυπριακής αποστολής εκπροσώπησαν τη χώρα στην IOAI 2026 στην Αστάνα του Καζακστάν, διαγωνιζόμενοι σε ένα απαιτητικό διεθνές περιβάλλον με συμμετοχές από όλο τον κόσμο.

Η αποστολή υλοποιήθηκε μέσα από συνεργασία του Πανεπιστημίου Νεάπολις Πάφος, της JetBrains, του JetBrains Foundation, και του Cyprus Computer Society. Η JetBrains είχε τον ρόλο του εθνικού συντονιστή της IOAI στην Κύπρο. Στο Steering Committee συμμετείχαν ο Καθηγητής Σάββας Χατζηχριστοφής από το Πανεπιστήμιο Νεάπολις Πάφος ως Πρόεδρος, ο Πανίκος Μασούρας από το Cyprus Computer Society και ο Alexander Avdiushenko από τη JetBrains.

Η επιλογή της ομάδας βασίστηκε σε ανοικτή διαδικασία. Πάνω από 100 μαθητές από δημόσια και ιδιωτικά σχολεία δήλωσαν συμμετοχή. Η συμμετοχή ήταν δωρεάν και χωρίς προϋπόθεση προηγούμενης προετοιμασίας. Η επιλογή έγινε με βάση την επίδοση.

Η προετοιμασία ξεκίνησε τον Νοέμβριο του 2025 με διαδικτυακά μαθήματα και ασκήσεις στη Μηχανική Μάθηση. Στις αρχές του 2026, οι 30 μαθητές με τις υψηλότερες επιδόσεις συμμετείχαν στο AI Winter Cyprus Camp στην Πάφο. Ακολούθησαν τέσσερις μήνες εντατικής προετοιμασίας και τον Ιούλιο πραγματοποιήθηκε το AI Summer Camp στην Πάφο, όπου επιλέχθηκαν οι οκτώ μαθητές που συγκρότησαν τις δύο ομάδες της Κύπρου.

Στην πρώτη ομάδα συμμετείχαν οι Amir Daiyrov, Χρίστος Αλεξάνδρου, Artyom Konukhov και Mariia Shilo, με επικεφαλής τον Svyatoslav Suglobov. Χάλκινα μετάλλια κατέκτησαν οι Amir Daiyrov και Χρίστος Αλεξάνδρου, ενώ ο Artyom Konukhov έλαβε εύφημη μνεία.

Στη δεύτερη ομάδα συμμετείχαν οι Πέτρος Βούρμας, Αλέξανδρος Κτωρής, Σωτήρης Σάββα και Artem Iankin, με επικεφαλής τον Sergey Shashkov. Χάλκινα μετάλλια κατέκτησαν οι Πέτρος Βούρμας και Αλέξανδρος Κτωρής, ενώ ο Σωτήρης Σάββα έλαβε εύφημη μνεία.

Ο διαγωνισμός διήρκεσε δύο ημέρες, με έξι ώρες ατομικής εξέτασης κάθε ημέρα. Τα θέματα κάλυπταν προγραμματισμό, ανάλυση δεδομένων και Μηχανική Μάθηση. Το επίπεδο δυσκολίας ήταν υψηλό για μαθητές σχολικής ηλικίας.
Στον οργανωτικό συντονισμό συνέβαλε η Natalia Kitaeva από τη JetBrains. Το πρόγραμμα υποστήριξαν εκπαιδευτικά οι Alexander Avdiushenko, Svyatoslav Suglobov, Danila Biktimirov, Nikita Magomedeminov και Rodion Chvorostov. Τις ομάδες συνόδευσαν στην Αστάνα οι Svyatoslav Suglobov και Sergey Shashkov.
Στην προσπάθεια στήριξαν επίσης ο Leptos Group και η Leptos Estates, το The Island Private School και το Leaders of the Future. Το Πανεπιστήμιο Νεάπολις Πάφος φιλοξένησε τα εντατικά στάδια της προετοιμασίας.

Η συμμετοχή αυτή δημιουργεί μια ανοικτή διαδικασία επιλογής και εκπαίδευσης μαθητών στον τομέα της Τεχνητής Νοημοσύνης. Ο στόχος για την επόμενη χρονιά είναι η διεύρυνση της συμμετοχής και η ενίσχυση της εμπλοκής της ακαδημαϊκής κοινότητας στην Κύπρο.

Last Saturday, 1 August, the Cyprus Computer Society and the Urkainian Cultural Centre Obiimy Cyprus hosted the second session of our specialized workshop series for women in Larnaka.

This session focused on moving from feeling "digitally overloaded" to being digitally empowered through the BRIDGE project.

Conducted in Ukrainian by Kseniia Zhuravlova-Galchenko and Lyolya Filimonova, this 3-hour interactive workshop explored how technology impacts our health, our environment, and how we work with others.

Key highlights from the workshop included:

🧘 Digital Wellbeing: We discussed how to recognize "digital burnout" and practiced practical strategies for setting boundaries, such as managing notifications and using "Do Not Disturb" modes to protect our time for rest.

🌍 Digital Sustainability: Participants were surprised to learn that our online actions have a physical impact on the planet. We shared simple habits to reduce our "digital footprint," such as regularly cleaning out inboxes to save server energy.

🤝 Digital Collaboration: We explored how to build trust and communicate effectively in online groups. Learners practiced techniques for "digital empathy", understanding and responding to others' needs even when we aren't in the same room.

This initiative, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme, aims to increase the confidence of vulnerable adult groups to engage in the digital world responsibly and safely.

Last Saturday, 25 July, the Cyprus Computer Society organised the first session of our specialised workshop series for women as part of the BRIDGE project.

It was an empowering day of learning, sharing, and building digital resilience in Larnaka with our trainers Kseniia Zhuravlova-Galchenko and Lyolya Filimonova.

In this interactive 3-hour session, conducted in Ukrainian, participants focused on the "Basics of Online Safety" covering the first three modules of the BRIDGE curriculum. The session was designed to move beyond fear and focus on power, equipping learners with practical skills and sharp eyes for "red flags" to turn confusion into confidence.

Key highlights from the workshop included:
🛡️ Spotting Digital Threats: Participants learned to identify the tricks scammers use, such as fake logos and urgent messages, to pressure individuals into sharing information.
🔐 Device Security: We discussed simple, everyday habits that act like "locking your front door" to keep phones and computers safe from intruders.
👤 Managing Digital Identity: Learners explored how an "online version of them" is built from pieces of data left behind and how to protect this digital footprint.

The ultimate goal of this initiative is to educate vulnerable adult groups about their digital rights and safety practices, increasing their confidence to engage in educational and social activities online.
