Generation for Change CY

Generation for Change CY Generation for Change CY (GFC) is a grassroots nonprofit promoting diversity, inclusion & equity.

Generation for Change CY is committed to positive social change through supporting vulnerable and marginalised communities – including but not limited to persons of low socioeconomic status, refugees, asylum seekers, migrants, and any persons facing discrimination. We seek to harness the power of diversity to advocate a fair and inclusive society. Our work:

▪️ Donation Drive: We support the disad

vantaged and those living in difficult circumstances, with basic needs such as food, hygiene essentials, clothes, bedding, and kitchen utensils. We provide support packages to 30 different families on a weekly basis.

▪️ e-Learning for Change: We provide Greek and English language classes to equip non-Greek or non-English speakers and migrants living in Cyprus with the necessary Greek or English language skills to assist with their social and economic integration.

▪️ Afterschool for Change: We provide a safe space, inclusive to all socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds, to children aged 7-14 years old. The programme aims to facilitate the development of their Greek language, digital and interpersonal skills, as well as their exposure to different cultures.

▪️ Hope Team: We are involved in creating and running Hope Team, a male basketball team that Coach Kostas Eglezzos created. Through basketball, we aim to promote the participants' integration, health and human connection.

▪️ Cyprus Got Game: We organise intercultural sports events (i.e., basketball, futsal, etc.) to bring together people from different cultures, races, religions, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientations, and walks of life with one common goal; to play, compete, and celebrate with each other.

▪️ Gathering for Understanding series: This series of events explores topics such as privilege, women's voices, and discrimination through artistic activities. Ultimately, we aim to facilitate the establishment of intercultural and inter-communal relationships.

▪️ Library For Change: A multicultural library designed to grow from the community for the community where everyone can borrow a book, suggest or donate, or facilitate the book club.

On 9 May 2026, we successfully delivered a Make It Change training session, bringing together 6 young people aged 16-23 from across Cyprus.

Through interactive exercises, discussions, and practical activities, participants strengthened their advocacy, leadership, and policy development skills while exploring how to transform their ideas into meaningful social action initiatives addressing issues that matter to them.

The training created an empowering and collaborative space for young people to exchange perspectives, develop innovative solutions, and build confidence in their ability to contribute to positive change within their schools, universities, and communities.

The session marked the first phase of the Make It Change Program, providing participants with the foundations needed to move from ideas to action. As the program progresses, participants will work in pairs or small groups to design and implement their own advocacy initiatives, supported through mentorship and financial assistance, while engaging with stakeholders and raising awareness on issues aligned with the program’s themes.

Selected participants will also have the opportunity to travel to Brussels and present their ideas.

Make It Change is implemented within the ParticipACTION project, co-funded by the European Union under the CERV-2023-CITIZENS-CIV program.

A heartfelt thank you to Generation for Change Association Cyprus for your continuous support and generosity.

We truly appreciate your kindness in allowing us to use your space, even during the weekends, for our dance preparations and rehearsals for “Musical Footprints – One City for All” in Limassol.

Your support has given us the opportunity to proudly showcase our traditions, culture, and heritage through dance. Because of your encouragement and assistance, our community has been able to come together, practice, and present Nepalese culture on a meaningful platform that celebrates diversity and inclusion.

Your contribution goes beyond providing a venue—it helps preserve cultural identity, strengthens community bonds, and creates opportunities for cultural exchange and understanding.

We are sincerely grateful for your trust, support, and commitment to empowering communities. Thank you for being part of this journey and helping us share the beauty of our culture with the wider community.

With gratitude,

Nepali Women’s Welfare and Cultural Association (NWWCA)

Join us for an evening of intercultural short films, mini language workshops, food, music, and community!

Picture This is three days away, and we cannot wait to share this evening with you.

We have chosen three short films about real neighborhoods: people who live side by side, look out for one another, and make something worth belonging to. What does it actually look like when people from different backgrounds build something together? And what makes a place feel like home for all of them?

KAIMAKLI: a documentary (2025, 13’) captures the voices and stories of Kaimakli, a district of Nicosia, Cyprus. Set in Kaimakli, in the shadow of Nicosia’s Green Line, it highlights how life, memory, and built heritage function as the commons in a border region that emerges as a space of belonging, resilience, and hope. We are also glad to announce that the film’s producers, Digital Cultural Heritage MSc graduates Despina Stavrou, Antonia Agapiou, and Evagoras Krystallis, will attend the screening to present the documentary and discuss it with the audience.

We will also be showing two more short films: one following a community art project that turned a public square in Athens into a shared space for locals, migrants, and refugees, and one set in a Los Angeles warehouse where a small group of craftspeople spends their days repairing instruments for thousands of public school children.

Before the short film screenings, we will host mini language workshops led by migrants, where participants can learn verbal and written phrases in French or Arabic. Food from different cultures will be available throughout the evening.

🗓️ Date: Friday, 12 June

Over the past months, RELATE has created spaces for artistic expression, intercultural dialogue, learning, and community connection across Cyprus.✨

RELATE connected artists with migrant backgrounds with cultural practitioners, young people, activists, and local communities through mentorship, exhibitions, performances, workshops, festivals, and public discussions. The work centered on themes of identity, displacement, resilience, and inclusion, drawing directly on the experiences of the artists and communities involved.

The project offered ten artists from diverse migrant backgrounds a residency program, which included mentorship from established local artists, masterclasses with cultural practitioners, production support, and platforms to showcase their work publicly for the first time in Cyprus. From visual arts and dance performances to music, storytelling, and community-based workshops, RELATE highlighted the power of creativity as a tool for visibility, empowerment, and social connection.

Across Nicosia, Limassol, and Larnaca, participants engaged in exhibitions, intercultural festivals, antiracism discussions, language and cultural exchange activities, creative workshops for children and adults, and performances celebrating the cultural richness that participating artists brought with them.

The project also fostered important conversations around representation, racism, participation, migration, and access to cultural spaces, creating opportunities for dialogue between artists, researchers, policymakers, activists, and the wider public.

By engaging communities through art, RELATE encouraged people to encounter different cultures through dignity, creativity, and shared humanity, helping build more open, empathetic, and inclusive communities.

More than a series of events, RELATE built friendships, created professional opportunities, and demonstrated the strength of collective creative action.
