📢 Call for Participants | International Training Course in Cyprus

Are you a young professional, youth worker, volunteer or student interested in supporting young refugees and asylum seekers?

Generation for Change CY, in collaboration with UNITED for Intercultural Action, is bringing together 20 participants under 30 years old from seven Council of Europe member states for an international training course in Cyprus.

About the Training:
Young refugees and asylum seekers often face serious barriers to mental health support, protection from discrimination and reliable information about their rights. This training will provide youth workers and civil society actors with practical tools to respond to these challenges more effectively.

What the Program Covers:
🔹Psychological first aid and community-based support
🔹Trauma-informed and culturally sensitive approaches
🔹Creative and arts-based methods
🔹Gender-based and intersectional discrimination
🔹Activity planning and evaluation
🔹Accessible information for young refugees and asylum seekers

No background in psychology is required.

Following the training, participants will also have the opportunity to apply for small grants to implement local follow-up activities.

What Is Covered:
🔹Accommodation and meals are fully covered and arranged by the project
🔹International travel expenses will be reimbursed up to €250
🔹Participants may apply for small grants for local follow-up activities

61 players came together for another Intercultural Futsal Tournament, united by a shared love of football.

Throughout the afternoon, teams took to the court for exciting matches filled with teamwork and determination. But beyond the competition, the tournament created opportunities for people from different backgrounds and ages to meet, connect, and enjoy the game together in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Sport can strengthen communities and encourage understanding, and this tournament showed it once again.

Congratulations to the winners, and thank you to all the players, volunteers, supporters, and referees who made the tournament possible.

In this episode, we sit down with Zahra Mashy, a translator born in Cyprus to Palestinian and Iraqi parents. As a second-generation migrant, Zahra reflects on growing up in a school with few other refugees or foreigners, and on how language, alongside understanding the Cypriot dialect and culture, shaped her sense of belonging and her work opportunities. She speaks about the importance of family, especially in the absence of relatives in Cyprus, and about never having had the chance to meet her grandparents. Committed to keeping Arabic alive, both to pass on to her future children and as a skill that has opened doors for her professionally, Zahra advocates for language support to be available to migrants immediately upon arrival and for more opportunities to learn about Cypriot culture early on.

Η Generation for Change CY σας προσκαλεί στο Τελικό Συνέδριο του έργου Digital Lingua, μια συνάντηση αφιερωμένη στις σύγχρονες πρακτικές, τα ψηφιακά εργαλεία και τις εφαρμογές Τεχνητής Νοημοσύνης στη γλωσσική εκπαίδευση.

DIGNIFIED Research Survey – Participants Wanted

AGAPI Cyprus is sharing this opportunity on behalf of Generation for Change CY.

They are looking for participants for a research survey about experiences accessing healthcare, social welfare services, housing, and other essential services in Cyprus.

They are especially looking for people who:

are 18 years old or older
are asylum seekers who arrived in Cyprus in 2023 or later, or recognized refugees / beneficiaries of subsidiary protection who received status from June 2025 onwards
face additional challenges related to health, disability, caring responsibilities, pregnancy, or other personal circumstances.

Participants who meet the requirements and complete the survey will receive a €10 supermarket voucher.

🇨🇾 From Cyprus to Brussels: Young voices helping shape European decision-making! 🇪🇺

On 10 September 2026, we proudly supported Demetriana Mnasonos, Vyacheslav Bakanov and Ilias Seferiadis' participation in the ParticipACTION Final Conference in Brussels, where they joined young people from across Europe, policymakers and civil society representatives to present and discuss the youth-led policy paper developed through the project.

Through discussions and interactive roundtables, participants explored key themes surrounding youth participation, democratic engagement, and the role of young people in shaping the policies that affect their lives.

The exchange created space for young people and stakeholders to reflect on the policy paper’s recommendations, discuss potential challenges to their implementation, and consider how youth voices can play a more meaningful role in decision-making.

Discussions focused on three thematic areas: Education, Culture, Youth and Sport; Migration; and Values, Rights, Rule of Law and Security.

Thank you to all the young people, policymakers, civil society representatives, and partner organizations who contributed their knowledge, experiences, and ideas to this meaningful dialogue. 🇪🇺🗣️

The conference took place within the framework of the ParticipACTION project, co-funded by the European Union under the CERV-2023-CITIZENS-CIV program.

On 27 August, we proudly organized Beyond the Game, an interactive open-air event marking the conclusion of PASS - Play Against Stereotypes and Smears. The event brought together community members at Eleftheria Square to explore how sport can challenge stereotypes, counter hate, and bring people together.

Through an interactive photography exhibition, visitors engaged with the experiences and messages shared throughout the discussions. Sports activities, including table tennis, table football, volleyball passing, and human Jenga, created further opportunities for people to connect in an open and welcoming environment.

We would like to thank everyone who joined us and participated in the activities. Your presence helped make Beyond the Game a meaningful conclusion to the project.

PASS is implemented by Generation for Change CY in collaboration with Athletes for Hope and is funded through the Collaborative Action Grant of the Sport for Refugees Coalition.

We Urgently Need Your Support!

Every week, as part of our Donation Drive program, we deliver support packages to households (i.e., refugees, people of low socioeconomic status, and single parents) in need across Nicosia. These packages include essentials such as food, clothing, hygiene products, and other necessities.

We are looking for volunteers to support us in packing and delivering weekly support packages to our beneficiaries. Packaging takes place every Friday from 5:00 PM.

Deliveries can be made between Fridays and Mondays, giving the volunteers the flexibility to choose the time that works best for them. In addition, our team members are available by phone to assist them with any questions or support they may need.
