About the keynote speaker
Mr. Wojciech Nowak is Executive Director, Global Public Affairs at Novartis International, with more than 25 years of experience at the intersection of healthcare policy, European integration, and the life‑sciences industry. He has held senior leadership roles across government, European institutions, and global pharmaceutical companies, including Novartis, GSK, and Abbott. His career began in the Ministry of Health in Poland, followed by roles at the French Ministry of Health and the European Commission (DG SANCO). Mr. Nowak currently serves as Chair of the Healthcare Council at EuropaBio and is widely recognised for his expertise in healthcare systems, public policy, and EU competitiveness.

National Day of Mourning

Switzerland is mourning — but we are also united, standing together in solidarity, remembrance, and determination to protect one another. Today, our hearts are with the families who lost loved ones and with all those who are affected by the tragic fire. We remember the young lives taken far too soon —for their dreams, hope, and future they carried.

The Team of the Embassy of Switzerland in Nicosia would like to express its heartfelt gratitude for the many messages of sympathy received from the Cypriot authorities, institutions, members of the public and friends, as well as from the diplomatic community. We are deeply touched by the kindness, compassion, and solidarity shown here in Cyprus during this difficult time. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

As the New Year begins, we pause to remember those around 40 young people who lost their lives in the tragic events at a New Years Party in Crans-Montana/ Switzerland. We extend our deepest condolences to their families and heartfelt wishes for strength and recovery for those who were blessed. May the year ahead be marked by healing, resilience, and a renewed commitment to care for one another. We extend our sincere thanks to all who have expressed their condolences and solidarity.
