How can museums turn climate risk into practical action? Through the ClimAid Research Project, we’re working with our partners to help museums in Cyprus assess their vulnerabilities, make informed decisions and plan for a more sustainable future. The project is developing a framework tailored to local conditions, connecting climate risk assessment with guidance for everyday museum operations.
ClimAid is coordinated by the CYENS Centre of Excellence, in collaboration with the Τμήμα Σύγχρονου Πολιτισμού Κύπρου/ Department of Contemporary Culture CY of the Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus and Periopsis. As a project partner, Periopsis contributes climate data analysis to support the assessment of climate-related risks facing museums in Cyprus.

Walk into a museum and it can feel as though the outside world has been left behind. But outside its walls, the climate is changing, and increasingly, that change is becoming a threat to the objects, buildings and cultural heritage that museums are meant to protect.
