The principal aim of CYMEPA is to encourage and actively assist effective efforts to prevent all forms of pollution of the sea. The Association also helps seafarers and executives to be more aware of safety and the protection of the marine environment. CYMEPA also initiates environmental projects and operates extensive public awareness campaigns, giving priority to environmental education of Schoo

lchildren. CYMEPA supports and assists the Government of Cyprus in ratifying and implementing international conventions addressing the protection of the marine environment.

Σε μια πολύ εντυπωσιακή τελετή στην παραλία μπροστά από το Nissi Blu έγινε η φετινή Παγκύπρια Απονομή της Γαλάζιας Σημαίας από την Υπουργό ΓΑΑΠ Δρα Μαρία Παναγιώτου.

Απονεμηθήκαν συνολικά 58 Σημαίες, 56 σε παραλίες και 2 σε μαρίνες. Η τελετή φορτίσθηκε συναισθηματικά γιατί τιμήθηκαν για την προσφορά τους στη Γαλάζια Σημαία η κα Αννίτα Δημητριάδου τέως Διευθύντρια Τουρισμού στο Υφυπουργείο Τουρισμού και ο κος Δημήτρης Πατέρας, επι σειρά ετών Υπεύθυνος Παραλιών στον Δήμο Αγίας Νάπας.

Πραγματοποιήθηκε την Τετάρτη, 10 Ιουνίου 2026 στην Αίθουσα Εκδηλώσεων του Υπουργείου Παιδείας, Αθλητισμού και Νεολαίας, η Τελετή Βράβευσης των Παγκύπριων διαγωνισμών:
Αφίσας ή/και Βίντεο με θέμα
«Ξηρασία και Πυρκαγιές: Προκλήσεις και λύσεις για μια βιώσιμη, ενωμένη Ευρώπη»
(υπό την εποπτεία της Επιθεώρησης Βιολογίας)
και Αφίσας με θέμα
«Βιολογική γεωργία – Η αρμονία της φύσης στο πιάτο σου» (υπό την εποπτεία της Επιθεώρησης Τέχνης) σε συνεργασία με το Τμήμα Γεωργίας του Υπουργείου Γεωργίας, Αγροτικής Ανάπτυξης και Περιβάλλοντος.
Χορηγοί της εκδήλωσης ήταν οι εταιρίες Eurobank Ltd, Tototheo Global, Intergaz Ltd καθώς και η CYMEPA.

A very pleasant ceremony was held on Tuesday, 9 June 2026, during which Dr Michael Ierides, Secretary General of the Cyprus Marine Environment Protection Association, CYMEPA presented the Achievement Prize 2026 to Graduating Cadet Demetra Fotopoulou.

Demetra received this distinction for her outstanding academic achievement, having topped the list with the highest average grade among all graduating classmates in the Bachelor in Nautical Science programme at the Cyprus Maritime Academy.
The award was presented in the presence of Mr Kyriacos Patsalides, Director of Academic Affairs of the Cyprus Maritime Academy, Professor Elias Yfantis and Marc Caramondanis, CYMEPA Technical Officer.

Warm congratulations to Demetra for this excellent accomplishment. Her achievement reflects dedication, discipline, and commitment to academic and professional excellence in the maritime sector.Such distinctions are important not only because they recognize individual performance, but also because they highlight the value of maritime education, safety culture, environmental responsibility, and the development of the next generation of maritime professionals in Cyprus.
