⚠️ **PENSION WARNING TO ALL ARMED FORCES VETERANS** ⚠️

Please take the time to check your Armed Forces pension.

Historic administrative errors have reportedly been identified in some Armed Forces pensions, particularly under the older **AFPS 75 and AFPS 05 schemes**. Some veterans may have been overpaid, while others may have been underpaid.

If you receive a letter from Veterans UK claiming that you owe money, **don’t panic and don’t automatically assume the calculation is correct**. Ask for a full explanation before agreeing to repay anything.

You should request:

• A full breakdown of your pension calculation.
• A copy of your original pension award.
• A complete history of your pension payments and adjustments.
• Confirmation of which Armed Forces Pension Scheme you belong to.
• Confirmation of whether National Insurance Modification (NIM) has been applied and how it was calculated.
• An explanation of any changes made when your State Pension began.
• Details of the Armed Forces Pension Scheme’s formal dispute procedure if you disagree with the calculation.

Even if you haven’t received a letter, it may still be worth contacting Veterans UK to check that your pension has been calculated correctly.

Knowledge is your best defence. Check your paperwork, keep copies of everything and don’t ignore correspondence from Veterans UK.

Please share this information with fellow veterans. One share could prevent someone from experiencing unnecessary worry—or help them discover that they have been underpaid.

🇬🇧 Armed Forces Day 2026 🇬🇧

Today, we proudly join communities across the United Kingdom and around the world in celebrating Armed Forces Day.

This is a day to recognise and thank the remarkable men and women who serve, or have served, in the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force, along with the Reservists, Cadet Forces Adult Volunteers, cadets, and the families whose unwavering support makes that service possible.

Armed Forces Day is more than a celebration of military service. It is an opportunity to acknowledge the commitment, courage and sacrifice shown by those who have dedicated themselves to protecting our nation, often in challenging and dangerous circumstances.

Here in Cyprus, we are privileged to be part of a vibrant Armed Forces and veterans community. Many have chosen to make Cyprus their home after service, while others continue to serve on the Sovereign Base Areas.
Their contribution to our communities, their continued support for fellow veterans, and their commitment to helping others remain as strong today as during their military careers.
The Cyprus Veterans Information Portal team are proud to support veterans, serving personnel, families and the organisations that work tirelessly on their behalf. Today, we simply say:

Veterans Information Portal – Community Message

A lot of us in this group have made Cyprus our home - myself (Alison), Sarah and Sandi included - just like so many of you who follow and support this page. That’s why the recent attack on RAF Akrotiri and the general rise in tension across the island feels and is close to home for all of us.

It’s completely normal to feel unsettled or on edge right now. Many of you have service backgrounds, families to think about, or memories that get stirred up when things like this happen.
No one has to sit with that alone.

We are here if you need a chat, a bit of grounding, or signposting to support. And we will keep sharing clear, reliable information as it comes in so everyone can stay informed without the noise.

This is a time for the community to pull together, look out for each other, and keep calm heads.
Cyprus is our home, and we face things better when we stay connected.

Our very own VE veteran Harold Fenwick is turning 103 soon. Sarah Geddes is collecting in any birthday cards, letters, drawings, messages of gratitude etc for his 103rd birthday.

A simple card from you, your children, your school, your club or your unit could mean the world to a man who once stood for all of us.
