🚨 Supporting the Heroes of the Ayioi Trimithias Dog Pound Rescue 🚨
We want to acknowledge the incredible efforts of Meow Meow Cyprus and ALL organizations and rescuers who have worked tirelessly—removing dogs, transporting them to vets, and managing hundreds of messages. Despite claims in local media, Veterinary Services did not initiate or carry out the relocation—this has been solely the work of dedicated rescuers who continue to ensure every dog is safe and rehomed.
Seeing the heartbreaking condition these dogs were in has been truly devastating—no living being deserves this. They were neglected and left to suffer in a place meant to protect them. Every effort now is about giving them the care, love, and dignity they should have always had.
As Rotaract Club of Limassol Berengaria Cosmopolitan, while we have not been directly involved in the relocation, we stand in full support of these efforts by raising awareness. We urge you to recognize and support the real heroes—volunteers, rescuers, and organizations working on the ground.

REHOMING AND PLACEMENTS HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO FRIDAY 21ST FEBRUARY 17:00.
We need to make a statement regarding the Ayioi Trimithias Dog Pound Rescue and the expectations of followers versus our responsibility to the dogs. We apologise for the length.
We have been nonstop since 22:00 last night and will be continuing to work throughout the night again - work is cancelled till Friday. That's fine, we would not do anything else, we don't need a cookie - but we need to highlight that we're completely committed to rehoming and placing all the dogs in time.
Currently we have 210 messages in the Page Inbox alone. Some are standard messages from our usual activities - our Foster Carers, Managed Colony Feeders, Independent Rescuers needing assistance etc.
Today we have overseen the transfer of some dogs that need the highest care immediately and dealt with many legal issues relating to corruption and discussions of funding management, the records that will need to be kept etc.
Animals well-being and lives are at stake. They have not been shown any respect, they have been neglected and potentially abused in a place that's supposed to protect them. It ends with us. We are taking responsibility to ensure that they go to homes or placements that meet their needs, some of which are high given their mental and physical state at present.
All dogs and puppies require Vetinary Assessments, Vetinary Treatment, personality assessments and full evaluation before they can be adopted - except in exceptional circumstances. This not only protects the dogs and puppies, but ensures life long homes.
The welfare considerations need to meet the usual standards and we still need to carry out rehoming checks. While we need to work rapidly, we can not work in haste, we owe them better.
Additionally, due to the requirement to build a case file, every dog and puppy needs professional evaluation and Vets will be asked to make statements. The records need to be fully comprehensive.
We can't give the coordinates for the general public to pick up a dog or puppy, we must ensure all collections are through us and recorded thoroughly so any case is water tight and they are not failed again.
We ask that followers wishing to adopt can bear with us, as we will not be cutting any corners and we will be working through all offers of help systematically. Adoptions, except in rare cases, can be made when they have been assessed fully.
