The Make It Alive youth exchange is in full swing!

We would like to thank Mr. Rodolfos Karaiskakis, Physics Teacher and Volunteer Officer of the Search and Rescue Department of the Civil Defence of Cyprus for two engaging sessions focusing on wildfire prevention and our shared responsibility to protect nature and the environment.
During the sessions, participants from Cyprus, Greece, Romania, Lithuania, Portugal, Poland, Serbia and Austria learned more about the current wildfire situation in Cyprus, the challenges faced when fires break out, and the people and services that help during emergencies. Mr. Karaiskakis shared important information about how to prevent fires, how to act safely if a fire occurs, and what each of us can do to reduce the risk of wildfires.
The sessions also included an open discussion, where participants actively shared their thoughts and asked many questions. Together, they explored some important topics: Why is it important to protect our environment? What is our responsibility? What can we do to help prevent fires and avoid starting them?
These sessions reminded us that protecting nature is a shared responsibility. Every action matters, and even small, conscious choices can help keep our environment safe.

Our incredible team from Cyprus, Ilias, Theodoros, Marina, Elena, Kallistheni, Avgi, Panagiota, and Alexandros—are currently in
Kosky for the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange project: "Your Trail to Mental Balance", which runs from October 5th to October 10th, 2026!

Surrounded by the beautiful forests and sand lakes of the Třeboňsko region, the team is diving into a hands-on program focused on mental health, psychohygiene, and non-formal education. Over the course of the week, they are taking part in mindfulness and meditation sessions, team-building activities, and outdoor hikes through the Novohradské Mountains. They will also have the chance to explore the historic UNESCO town of Český Krumlov while connecting and sharing experiences with participants from across Europe.

Cant wait for their return to hear more about the project in its dissemination phase! ✈️

Ο ACPELIA σας προσκαλεί στο τριήμερο συνέδριο «LEVEL UP LEARNING – Παιχνιδοποίηση στην Εκπαίδευση», μια ξεχωριστή συνάντηση εκπαιδευτικών, μαθητών, φοιτητών, youth workers και νέων που θέλουν να ανακαλύψουν πώς το παιχνίδι μπορεί να μεταμορφώσει τη μάθηση.

🎲 Εκπαιδευτικά επιτραπέζια παιχνίδια, πειράματα Φυσικής, κατασκευή πυραύλων και ηλιακών φούρνων, ψηφιακά παιχνίδια, δημιουργία εκπαιδευτικών παιχνιδιών και συναρπαστικά κυνήγια θησαυρού θα μετατρέψουν το Πισσούρι σε ένα ζωντανό εργαστήριο μάθησης!

The SPARK Series brings together three connected Erasmus+ activities in Portugal:

We are currently looking for 3 ACPELIA representatives to take part in the preparatory visit and support the implementation of the activities in 2027.
For each Youth Exchange, the Cyprus team will consist of:

Just because the European Week of Sport is over, doesn't mean that staying active is any less important!
On the 1st of October, as part of the Health & Sport through Korfball (HSTK) project, we kept the energy going by hosting our second local activity!
We invited 21 energetic students from Lykeo Apostolou Louka Kolossi to join us on the court. It was the perfect opportunity to bring the community together and let our newly trained coaches practice their teaching skills on players who were completely new to the game.
Here is what we got up to:
* Learning the basics: The students learned the core skills of Korfball, like how to pass, catch, and create space.
* Safe and fair play: We practiced the sport's unique rules, focusing on how to defend safely without any physical contact.
* Game time: We wrapped up the day by putting everything together in a super fun, fast-paced mini-tournament!
A huge thank you to the students for bringing such amazing energy to the court. Let's keep the spirit alive all year round! 🏀💪

With the Training of Trainers still going strong in Cyprus, on the 1st of October 2026 we were joined by 21 energetic youngsters from Lykeo Apostolou Louka Kolossi. This was the perfect chance to take everything we've been practicing all week and share it with the local community!
From the perspective of the trainers, we...
* Stepped into the role of educators, putting our brand-new coaching skills to the ultimate test.
* Practiced how to break down the rules and explain court movement to players who had never seen a korf before.
* Gained real, hands-on experience managing and guiding a team from the sidelines during live gameplay.

Yet, from the perspective of the youth, they…
* Jumped right into the action, learning the basic fundamentals of passing, catching, and creating space on the court.
* Practiced the unique non-contact defensive rules and the specific throwing motion needed to score.
* Put all their new skills together at the end of the day to compete in a fast-paced, super fun mini-tournament!

A massive thank you to the students for bringing such great energy to the court. Stay tuned for more updates as the project is yet to finish.

🏀 Korfball Training of Trainers – Officially Completed! ✅

We just wrapped up an incredible week in Cyprus for the Health & Sport through Korfball project! From September 28th to October 2nd, we had the absolute pleasure of hosting our Training of Trainers (Coaches) at the beautiful Hylatio Tourist Village.

It was an action-packed three days of learning, team-building, and cultural exchange. Here’s a glimpse of what our participants got up to:

🏊‍♀️ Aquarobics & Warm-ups: Kicking off the physical activities with an energizing pool session to get everyone ready for the court! 🎯 Korfball Crash Course: From mastering shooting mechanics and spatial awareness to learning strict non-contact positional defense and offensive footwork.

⛹️‍♂️ Game On: Putting all those brand-new tactical strategies to the test in full, competitive Korfball matches! 📸 Local Exploration: A photography challenge through the historic square of Pissouri, followed by delicious traditional Cypriot dining.

🌊 Cultural Excursions: Taking in the breathtaking views at Petra tou Romiou, Paphos itself, the Ancient Kourion and the City of Limassol.

🏀Competition: A massive half-day tournament hosting cypriot youth to not only learn about the sport, but engage in a full tournament!

A massive thank you to our incredible trainers Jorge, Giorgos ,and Bandor, representing the International Korfball Association from all corners of europe, for guiding us through the sport.

Beyond School : The Missing Lesson gets a Cypriot follow-up!

With the original project taking place back in late August in Lithuania, participants from Lykeio Apostolou Louka Kolossiou had to opportunity to disseminate all about the project at the school itself with an audience of more than 70 students and 20 teachers!

The original project explored the “missing lessons” in our education — the practical, everyday knowledge and skills that are not always covered in the classroom, but play an important role in our lives and future.
Through workshops, discussions and shared experiences, young people explored different ways of learning, approached familiar school subjects from more practical perspectives, and learned from one another. The project encouraged participants to reflect on their own experiences, exchange perspectives and develop skills that can help them feel more confident and prepared for life beyond school.

“Green Skills, Digital Futures” gets a follow-up!

Based on the original project in Krusevo,that took place from the 2nd to the 8th of July 2026, Cypriot participants from the school had the opportunity to share a lot of information about the project. The original Youth Exchange project focused on creating a collaborative space where youngsters explore sustainability, digital tools and practical innovation through intercultural learning. Throughout the exchange, participants took part in interactive workshops, group discussions, creative challenges, and team-building activities designed to encourage critical thinking, active participation, and the sharing of diverse perspectives.

This took place on the 30th of September, at Lykeio Apostolou Louka Kolossiou, in front of an audience of more than 70 students and 20 teachers!
