The National Gerontology Centre in Cyprus is a research and educational virtual institution focused on aging, headed by Scientific Director Dr. Marios Kyriazis. It collaborates with the Ministry of Health of Cyprus and promotes healthy longevity through research, international conferences, and collaborations in areas like biology, complexity sciences, and geriatrics. The center also acts as a specialized contact point for organizations related to the health of the elderly.
Focus and activities:
1. Conducts interdisciplinary research on the biological, medical, and social aspects of aging.
2. Works closely with universities and other international experts.
3. Organizes international events like the Mediterranean Congress of Anti-aging Medicine to foster dialogue and share findings.
4. Engages in educational activities related to aging and longevity.
5. Aims to develop a vision for achieving excellence in the physical and mental health of the elderly in Cyprus, and coordinates the goals of government and non-governmental organizations.
The center is led by Dr. Marios Kyriazis, a biomedical gerontologist and physician. Dr. Kyriazis is a recognized expert with a focus on the complexity of aging and longevity. He also serves as the editor in chief for the "Geriatric Medicine" section of the journal Frontiers.

* Published a collaborative study on the potential of Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for cognitive impairment in dementia.
*Contributed to a report on the impact of social isolation on older adults during the COVID-19 pandemic.
* Is involved in projects like the vINCI project, which uses an Internet of Things (IoT) framework to provide monitoring and support for older adults.
