Rotary Club of Kyrenia-St. Hilarion

Rotary Club of Kyrenia-St. Hilarion Service Above Self In more than 160 countries worldwide, approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 30,000 Rotary clubs.

Rotary is an organization of business, professional and community leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Rotary club membership represents a cross-section of the community's business and professional men and women, as well as community leaders. The world's Rotary clubs meet weekly

and are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds. The main objective of Rotary is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotarians develop service projects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as children at risk, disabled persons, health care, international understanding and goodwill, literacy and numeracy, population issues, poverty and hunger, the environment, clean water, and Polio eradication. They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development. The Rotary motto is Service Above Self.

On the Rotary International calendar, June is Rotary Fellowships Month. This month highlights and celebrates the international networks of Rotarians who share common hobbies, vocations, or recreational interests. Additionally, it marks the final month of the Rotary fiscal year, which runs from July 1 to June 30.
Rotary Fellowships are independent, international groups that share a common passion—ranging from sports and recreation to specific professions. The celebration encourages members to:
-Connect: Build lasting friendships beyond their local clubs and districts.
-Participate: Join or form groups that require members from at least five different countries.

International Children’s Day is celebrated annually on June 1st to honor children and advocate for their rights, safety, and well-being. Rotary International is heavily involved in this cause, operating localised programs that provide children with fun days out.
Rotary’s efforts include:

-Rotary Children’s Fun Day: A major ongoing initiative where Rotary clubs across Great Britain, Ireland, and other regions partner with local charities and schools to organize trips to theme parks, zoos, theatres, and farms.

-Youth Empowerment & Peacebuilding: Rotary clubs regularly host youth summits, art competitions, and educational seminars to raise awareness about child protection, children’s legal rights, and mental health.

-Local Community Events: Many local clubs step in to host picnics, supply drives, and community fun days for vulnerable youth and young carers groups.

“Children are the future of our world. Happy International Children’s Day to all the kids!”

”Every child deserves a happy, healthy, and safe childhood. Happy Children’s Day!”

In the preceding five years, studies focused on the challenges faced by persons with disabilities and ensuring their access to equal opportunities in society. Between 1983 and 1992, the UN declared this period the Decade of Disabled Persons. In 1992, May 10–16 was officially recognized as “World Disability Week.”

During World Disability Week and always, the Rotary Club of Kyrenia St.Hilarion stands in solidarity with all individuals facing challenges and barriers. Let us recommit to promoting inclusion, diversity, accessibility and opportunities for everyone in our community. Together, we can create a more inclusive and supportive world where every person can thrive and contribute their unique talents. Disabilities do not define a person’s worth or potential.
Disability is not inability, let us embrace diversity and empower individuals to achieve their maximum potential.
