OUR REGULAR MEETING AND FAREWELL TO ROTARY YEAR 2025-26

Last night, Wednesday, 17 June, we held our 2137th regular meeting at the Dome Hotel together with the esteemed members of our Rotary Club. Our main topic was once again the Özcan Bundak Memorial Fund, which we established within our club. We remembered him with the precious marks and memories she left in our club, and we also discussed the dinner and handover ceremony to be held on 1st July.
On this occasion, we celebrated the outstanding achievements of our esteemed member Mr. Serdar Özdemir in the fields of tourism and insurance consultancy, and we cut our cake to mark the successful completion of the 2025–2026 Rotary term.
I wish the 2026–2027 Rotary term to bring prosperity and success to both our club and our world.

AT THE END OF THE LAST TWO WEEKS

Following PELS (the Presidents-Elect Learning Seminar), the Cyprus Peace Forum, and our Club's regular meeting, we concluded a very full, productive, and beneficial week.
AG May Monia Chmaitilly from Lebanon was elected as the 2026–27 District Governor of District 2452 and will take over the position in June from DG Peter Ashdjian. By attending our seminar, she introduced herself, her goals, the new deputy District Governor, Assistant Governors, and Presidents. In addition, both her presentations and those delivered by senior Rotarians — containing valuable and updated information about Rotary — contributed greatly to our training program.

The Peace Forum organized in Limassol by the Cyprus Rotary Clubs, focused on how the two communities could cooperate for their mutual benefit even before a political solution is reached on the island. Topics ranged from the joint use of local resources to energy, food, and tourism. In particular, the comprehensive presentation prepared by Mr. Mustafa Besim attracted significant attention. Alongside the keynote speakers Mr. Ozdil Nami (former chief negotiator) and Dr. I. Kasoulides (former Minister of Foreign Affairs), the contributions of academics and experts from both communities were highly appreciated by the audience from both sides. The meal that followed the forum, attended by all club members and participants, took place in a very friendly atmosphere.

At our regular meeting, the first item on the agenda was discussing the details of the ÖZCAN BUNDAK AVIATION AND ELECTRONICS CENTER MEMORIAL FUND, which we established to honor the memory of our dear friend Özcan. We shared with our club members, with mixed emotions and satisfaction, the announcement that — in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education — the school where the center will be established has now been identified.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks in advance to everyone who has contributed and will contribute to the Ozcan Bundak fund.

NATİONAL SOVEREİGNTY AND CHİLDREN'S DAY

The opening day of the Assembly, which paved the way for the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye on April 23rd 1920, is celebrated every year as “National Sovereignty and Children’s Day.” April 23 is both a symbol of the will of the people and the first and only holiday in the world dedicated to children by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
For many years, April 23rd has been celebrated not only in Türkiye but also internationally, with the participation of children from different countries around the world.
This year, as the Rotary Club of Kyrenia Liman, we attended the celebrations organized by Yeşilyurt Special Education and Vocational Training School, which we continuously and primarily support, on the occasion of the 106th anniversary of National Sovereignty and Children’s Day.
We proudly watched our special students reflect their remarkable progress in education through the dances and performances they presented successfully.
We also served cake and baklava kindly prepared by Merit Diamond Hotel, accompanied by pleasant conversations.
We sincerely congratulate the school principal, Ms. Esma İneci, and her team for their great efforts contributing to the visible success of the students.

I am deeply saddened 😥 by the loss of our very dear Özcan Bundak, a kind-hearted, dynamic, determined, and active golfer, a true veteran who devoted many years to the Rotary Club. May she rest in peace and in light.
I would like to extend my condolences to the entire Rotary family, to her family, and all who loved her.

RC KYRENIA LIMAN REGULAR MEETING

Our 2133rd regular meeting was held once again at the Dome Hotel on April 1, 2026.

All our members were very happy to see our dear Gültaç Özsan back with us after a long time. We warmly welcome her once again.

During our meeting, we had a productive discussion covering a range of topics, including the details of the dental and oral health screening program we will organize for Yeşilyurt Special Education and Vocational Training School, the pollination activity, the support we will provide to schools and healthcare institutions, and our upcoming visits. We also set the date for our Rotary Club dinner and discussed income-generating activities to strengthen our budget.
I would like to sincerely thank all my friends who attended and contributed to the meeting.

VISIT TO RAUF RAIF DENKTAŞ VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

On March 30, 2026, I, Hülya Gokoğlu, as the President of the Rotary Club of Kyrenia Liman, together with Alpay Çelebi, President of the Rotary Club of Kyrenia Cosmopolitan, paid a visit to Rauf Raif Denktaş Vocational High School.

The school, which was inaugurated on January 13, 2025, with the aim of contributing to vocational and technical education, greatly impressed us with its modern structure and contemporary classrooms.

After meeting and having a conversation with the School Principal, Mr. Rüstem Kal, our confidence grew that the school would achieve significant progress in a short time under such a strong and knowledgeable leader.

We left the school feeling happy, both because we were able to contribute, even in a small way, to the educational journey of these valuable students, and because of the positive impressions we gained.

DDG YİANNOS PİSSOURİOS AND HIS TEAM VISIT TO OUR FOUR T/C CLUBS

Last night, on January 27, 2026, we had great pleasure of hosting our dear DDG Yiannos Pissourios and his team together with four Turkish Rotary Clubs at Celcus Tower.
Following DDG Yiannos Pissourios’s “Discover Rotary” presentation, which included a lively Q&A session and took place in a warm and enjoyable atmosphere, we proceeded to dinner together. The dinner was held in a very pleasant setting, during which we raised our glasses in the hope that the spirit of Rotary, cooperation, and peace will continue to flourish throughout the world.
We sincerely thank DDG Yiannos Pissourios and his team for this wonderful visit.

Dün gece 27 Ocak 2026 tarihinde sevgili DDG Yiannos Pissourios ve ekibini biz dört Türk Rotary Kulübü Celcus Tower'da birlikte ağırlamaktan büyük mutluluk duyduk.
Karşılıklı soru cevapların da yer aldığı ve eğlenceli bir ortamda geçen DDG Yiannos Pissourios'un 'Discover Rotary' adlı sunumunun ardından birlikte yemeğe geçildi. Rotary ruhunun, yardımlaşmanın ve barışın tüm Dünyada yaşatılması dileğiyle kadehlerimizin de kaldırıldığı yemek bolümü ck keyifli bir ortamda geçti.
DDG Yiannos Pissourios ve ekibine nazik ziyaretleri için çok teşekkür ederiz.

Our 2129th regular meeting, attended by AG Panicos Nicolaides, was held on January 21st in a very pleasant atmosphere once again.
In addition to planning our new projects, an interactive exchange of ideas took place following the presentation on agriculture by our club member Professor Dr. Atilla Aşkın, Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies at LAÜ, within the scope of “Vocational Service Month.” We concluded our meeting by joyfully celebrating Mr. Atilla Aşkın’s birthday. 🎊✨️🎂

OUR ADULT ENGLISH LANGUAGE COURSES AT ROTARY LANGUAGE LABORATORY LOCATED AT THE KARPAZ VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL.

The Rotary Language Laboratory, established at Karpaz Vocational High School and inaugurated in November 2024, was implemented within the scope of a Global Grant Project by the Rotary Club of Kyrenia Liman and the project’s international partner, District 2420 Istanbul Barbaros Metropolitan Rotary Club.
In addition to serving the students of Karpaz Vocational High School, one of our main objectives was to provide access to a wider community, enabling adults of all ages and professions to benefit from the laboratory facilities.
As a result of our dedicated efforts in line with this goal, today, on 25 December 2025, our courses have OFFICIALLY COMMENCED, starting with the placement (level determination) examination as the first step.
