β€οΈπΎ I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Olga Charchenko and her husband Andrey. These are truly exceptional people! Your parents should be proud of you! β€οΈππ»
A little story about how it all happened.
π They found a sick Labrador wandering the streets alone without an owner. Unfortunately, allowing dogs to roam freely is still a common practice in Cyprus. The Labrador was around 10 years old and suffering from leishmaniasis. All of his paws were covered in sores, but his owner seemed completely unconcerned. π’
π₯ When Olga and Andrey brought him to the veterinary clinic, they discovered that the dog had a microchip and an owner. The owner was contacted and informed about the diagnosis and the treatment required.
His response? He had no intention of treating the dog and asked for him to be euthanized. π
Olga and Andrey did not hesitate for a second. They decided to save him. β€οΈπΎ
They could not take the dog home because they have cats, so they placed him in a paid foster home. There they discovered an even sadder situation. The foster carer was a dog hoarder who did not sterilize the animals, resulting in uncontrolled breeding. π
πΆπΆπΆ This is how they learned about three puppies suffering from parvovirus. They immediately took the puppies under their care and paid for all their treatment themselves. The puppies were named Louis, Milo, and Lucas.
π Every day of parvo treatment and hospitalization cost a significant amount of money, but they never gave up on any of them. They fought for each puppy and managed to save them all. ππ»β€οΈ
π‘ Our shelter took the puppies into our adoption program. Two of them have already found loving homes and flown to their families β Milo and Lucas. βοΈβ€οΈ
Thank yoHundeliebe-grenzenlos e.V. e.V. for helping make this possible. ππ»πΎ
π The Labrador also found a family just a few weeks after we started promoting him. It was one of those truly unbelievable stories. Cases like this are extremely rare: a senior Labrador with leishmaniasis found a loving family in England within just a few days. π¬π§β€οΈ
β¨ It was a real miracle. β¨
β€οΈ A huge thank you to our colleagueSaving Souls Animal RescueeJan Applebypleby for making this miracle happen β€οΈππ»
π Special thanks to Marina Kuzmickaja for providing him with a home, care, and love while he was in foster care waiting for his adoption β€οΈπΎ
I always tell people who ask for help that we are willing to support them if they are willing to actively participate as well. π€
π Taking a dog to the vet, π arranging grooming before travel, π walking shelter dogs, πΈ taking photos and videos, βοΈ helping with transport to the airport, and π° contributing financially when possible.
Olga and Andrey are among the very few people who truly do all of this. β€οΈπ
Unfortunately, many people simply want to hand a dog over to a shelter and forget about it. π There are also those who are quick to tell others how a dog should be treated and which veterinarian should be used, yet they are unwilling to lift a finger themselves.
I call them βenergy vampires.β π§ββοΈπ For some reason, they believe everyone should follow their instructions, as if they personally pay the salaries of all shelter volunteers every month.
Those are not the people we choose to help.
β€οΈπΎ Today, I would once again like to thank Olga, Andrey, and everyone who played a part in saving these innocent souls.
