District 135 Cyprus – Hunger Relief Activity 🍲🦁

A Bowl of Soup, A Great Act of Solidarity.

District 135 Cyprus Lions are coming together to serve our community through a Hunger Relief Activity, reaching people in three different cities across Northern Cyprus.

Young Professionals Cyprus Virtual participated in the loggerhead turtle conservation and events.

The collaboration — jointly organised by Lions Clubs Mağusa Kale, Mağusa Desdemona, Young Professionals Cyprus Virtual, Famagusta – The Othello Citadel Virtual, İskele Mackenzie Bay, and Mackenzie Bay CUB — was led by and supported by Tatlısu Municipality.

Young Professionals Cyprus Virtual Lions President İrem Özçay, Secretary Doğukan Hacımuratlar, and Club Service Director Umut Tuncel were joined by Cyprus Virtual member and Charter Governor of District 135 Fikret Şendil.

Cyprus Virtual Lions extends sincere thanks to District Secretary Çiğdem Duvarcı, District GMT Coordinator Şensev Ertan Yalınkaya, District GET Coordinator Denise Prideaux, as well as all Lions and guests who participated in the event.

You're invited to our (caretta caretta) event which will be organized by followed by the event in collaboration with siblings Lions Cubs of Zone #1 of the District 135 Cyprus; Mağusa Kale, Mağusa Desdemona, Young Professionals Cyprus Virtual, Famagusta - The Othello Citadel Virtual, and Iskele Mackenzie Bay. The event will begin at 6:30 PM on Friday, August 8th, at Mersinlik Beach.

The event will be organized with the contributions of Tatlısu Municipality.

LC Young Professionals Cyprus Virtual participated in the "Loggerhead Event," organised by the Eastern Mediterranean University ( ) Underwater Imaging and Research Centre (EMU- ) and designed as a -level by District 135 Lions Clubs.

The event was attended and supported by Club President Lion İrem Özçay, Club Secretary Lion Doğukan Hacımuratlar, and club members. The event also hosted the Charter and current District Governor of 135, Lion Fikret Şendil, a member of the Young Professionals Cyprus Virtual.

The event, which attracted considerable interest from local residents and tourists, was supported by 14 Lions Clubs from District 135.

Cyprus Virtual Lions extend our sincere thanks to GST Coordinator Lion Sevda Yücelen, District Environmental Committee Chairperson Şükriye Çiçek, SAGM Chairperson Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burak Ali Çiçek and the SAGEM team for organising the event.

Cyprus Virtual Lions will participate in two loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) events.

The first event will take place on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Zaradise Garden - İskele Beach. It will be a event organised by Eastern Mediterranean University's - Underwater Research and Imaging Centre, in collaboration with 13 Lions Clubs. District Governor Fikret Şendil, a member of Young Professionals Cyprus Virtual, will also attend the activity. The SAGM team will release the caretta caretta turtles into the sea.

The second event will be held on Friday, 8th August 2025, at Mersinlik Beach, organised in partnership with the Mağusa Kale, Mağusa Desdemona, Young Professionals Cyprus Virtual, Famagusta - The Othello Citadel Virtual, and Iskele Mackenzie Bay Lions Clubs. It will be led by - Northern Cyprus Society for the Protection of Turtles.
