Project Paw Cyprus

Project Paw Cyprus We support the cats of Cyprus, their rescuers and tourists who want to take their felines home😻 If you cannot donate, of course there are many ways to help.

In Cyprus there are more cats than people, Initially introduced to control the rat and snake population, the strays of Cyprus are now everywhere, rapidly increasing in numbers without any official care or neutering in place. This means there are many homeless cats, unwell cats, starving cats, kittens needing to be hand reared, there‘s a lot of suffering, witnessed by locals and tourists alike. The

re is also unfortunately a level of cruelty shown towards cats, albeit luckily a minority. Visitors to the island don‘t know how they can help cats in need during their short stays. Local people are desperately trying to help suffering cats in their area, but there’s only so much people can afford on their own and it is heart breaking. So being an animal lover, cats in particular, I wish to bring people together with the aim of helping as many cats in Cyprus as possible, starting with the area I visited during April 2022, Protaras and the surrounding areas. So far, I have found a recommended vet that locals use for treatment, plus some ladies that help cats on the ground with trapping etc, but we need the help of many to be able to make this a success, this is where the generosity of anyone reading this comes in. Whether its £1/€1 or more, please consider giving, or give your time if you live locally in Cyprus to help improve the lives of strays and the environment they live in. You may even wish to explore adopting a cat from your visit to Cyprus, cats make wonderful pets! ALL monies donated shall be paid directly to vet practices involved in this project from myself and evidence of this will be provided to keep it transparent and reassuring for everyone involved and it will be spent accordingly. When visiting Cyprus, you can feed the cats by purchasing cat food in shops, but please feed them away from roads, restaurants etc. If you find a cat in need, please look for the Facebook group ‘Cyprus cats who need homes or help’ but be aware that everyone is very busy, maxed out with animals, but it’s worth posting and asking how you can help the animal yourself or if someone can help you. If your accommodation has cats present, speak to managers and ask that you‘d like to see care provided for them. We need to educate on how to treat animals and whether people like cats or not, a healthier, better cared for and controlled cat population will make Cyprus a better place for everyone!

These words are relevant for anyone in Cyprus animal rescue at the moment.

Please- if you find an animal in need, do as much as you can yourself.

We are overfull too 💔💔💔

Important message from Argos Animal Sanctuary!

Please understand that we are full.

Every day we receive messages and phone calls asking us to take in more animals. We know people are trying to help, but we simply cannot continue carrying this responsibility alone.

Those of us involved in rescue also have families, jobs, and personal lives. We cannot be available 24 hours a day or keep up with the constant pressure to solve every situation.

If you find an animal in need and want to help, please do not expect shelters to do everything. Rescue is a shared responsibility. If you are able to, please help directly by fostering, assisting with food or veterinary costs, arranging transport, contacting the relevant authorities, or actively trying to find a solution.

Please do not pressure us, blame us, or make us feel guilty when we are unable to help. We care deeply about every animal, but we cannot do the impossible. Being told that we “don’t care” or that we “must take them” when we simply have no space or resources only adds to the emotional burden that rescuers already carry every single day.

Until some of our current animals leave for their forever homes, we will not be accepting any new admissions.

Please respect our decision and our limits. Saying “no” does not mean we do not care it means that we have reached a point where we can no longer cope without compromising the welfare of the animals already in our care.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support!

Please adopt, foster, volunteer, donate, and share. Together, we can make a difference.

Hello babies!
Mumma Mackenzie is doing a good job of feeding her 7 babes!
She’s also the happiest of cats, always purring. She’s happy, safe and content.

We wish every stray pregnant cat could be given the chance to live, as well as the babies they have. Sadly, Mackenzie is in the minority to be so lucky.

So many cats will give birth on the streets and for kittens that are born and live outdoors, a staggering 75% won’t make their first birthday😿💔😭🇨🇾🐾

Taking on a pregnant Mumma cat is a HUGE and lengthly responsibility. We are so grateful for the offer of looking after her🥰

What IS good news is that TEDDY is almost ready to leave the vet clinic!

His ears are now much better, having received a clean up, antibiotics and ear drops. He has also been neutered. Flea and worm treatment will be given to him too.

His limp is an old injury that has healed, but there’s no drastic measures to be made. He will however face issues in the colder, damp months of winter.

For this reason, we would like to see Teddy be rehomed off the streets before the summer season ends.

He’s been in the vets nearly 2 weeks 😣
But he’s needed that time to have his ears cleaned up, infection cleared and for him to be in a better position health wise.

He is such a kind and warm hearted boy! He has been so, SO good in the clinic when he’s been handled and given medication.

Sure, he looks to have a tough exterior and is a little rough around the edges, but underneath, he’s a joyful little soul who just wants to be loved🇨🇾🐾💙😻

So we’ve been working all day and naturally have a stack of messages to go through, but look who has been found and is in need of help, just from the small amount of rescuers we know….

We are just 🤯 at the moment…

This winter’s TNR efforts are going to have to be phenomenal….

Foster home needed please 🙏🏻

We still need a foster for this boy we rescued from Nicosia. He’s now in the Paralimni area in a clinic. If you have a spare room, large dog crate or even a ventilated but closed garage, PLEASE! Reach out to us. We are desperate!

Every extra day he’s in clinic, costs us more money. We want him to build his health back up, put weight on and grow his fur.

These kittens are safe now, but once again, they were abandoned💔🐾🇨🇾
