A Morning in Sophie's Magical World.
After much anticipation and excitement, one warm morning the CDSA Art Group stepped into Sophie's enchanting world.
Our talented friend, Sophie Adamou, warmly welcomed us into her stunning village home in the old Ayios Omologites quarter of Nicosia—a traditional residence beautifully reimagined with elegance and character. As is so often the case, one never knows what lies beyond an old doorway. Behind these doors, we discovered a beautiful, light-filled home lovingly created by Sophie and her family, as well as the artist's own magical creative sanctuary.
Although Sophie's academic background is in Management Sciences and Information Systems, and her professional career included both information technology and commercial banking, her artistic spirit ultimately found its true calling—to the delight of everyone fortunate enough to experience her work.
Among her most captivating creations are her distinctive ceramic dolls, though her artistic talent extends far beyond them. Speaking about her SO SOPHIE dolls, the artist shares:
"I lovingly sculpt my dolls out of air-dry clay and decorate them with acrylic paints, water-soluble crayons and pencils, paint pens, sometimes glitter and sparkles, but always with a touch of magic!"
Sophie's gracious hospitality perfectly reflected her creativity, warmth, and generosity. We are deeply grateful for such an inspiring and memorable morning, during which she opened not only the doors of her home but also those of her artistic universe, sharing with us her inspiration, imagination, and craftsmanship.
This gathering was especially meaningful, as it marked the very first visit of our Art Group to Sophie's home and studio, where many of our members instantly fell in love with her remarkable work.
