Već više od dve decenije, kao značajan nosilac muzičkog života grada, bavi se organizovanjem koncerata, iako je njena prvobitna delatnost bila orijentisana ka osmišljavanju i ostvarivanju muzičkih programa, emisija i akcija edukativnog karaktera isključivo namenjenih mladima. I nešto drugačiji programi koji ukazuju na fluidne granice između klasične muzike i etno, džez, ponekad i pop zvuka, takođe
su deo repertoara MONS-a. Tokom jedne godine MONS realizuje oko 100 koncerata, od čega se najveći broj održava u Sinagogi, ali i u svečanoj sali Gradske kuće, Župnoj crkvi imena Marijina i u salama Srpskog narodnog pozorišta. Tokom letnjih meseci koncerti se većinom organizuju “na otvorenom”, na mestima kao što su atrijumi Muzeja Vojvodine i Crkve Svetog Jurja u Petrovaradinu, novosadski “Štrand” i vrt Srednjoškolskog doma u Nikolajevskoj ulici. U delatnost MONS-a svrstavaju se međunarodni festival umetničke muzike pod nazivom Novosadske muzičke svečanosti – Nomus (održava se uvek u aprilu mesecu), zatim manifestacija Novosadsko muzičko leto i ciklus “Božićno-novogodišnji koncerti”, kao i redovna koncertna aktivnost tokom godine. Ono po čemu je Muzička omladina Novog Sada možda najprepoznatljivija jeste festival Nomus (1975). Da je Nomus garancija kulture zemlje u kojoj se razvija, govori njegova preko tri decenije duga tradicija. I ne samo to. Ministarstvo kulture Republike Srbije je 2010. godine proglasilo festival Nomus za manifestaciju od nacionalnog značaja, a 2011. godine Nomus je postao i član Saveza međunarodnih festivala umetnosti Srbje (SEFA) i preko te Asocijacije član Evropske asocijacije festivala (EFFE). NOMUS je dobitnik markice platforme evropskih festivala EFFE za period 2015-2016. i 2017-2018. Stalnom nadogradnjom svojih aktivnosti, osluškivanjem aktuelnih dešavanja na svetskoj sceni, ali i potreba slušalaca, MONS nastoji da neguje publiku, da zadrži stare, ali i privuče nove slušaoce. Zahvaljujući manifestacijama Muzičke omladine, Novi Sad je ugostio neke od najčuvenijih ansambala i umetnika sveta. MONS je i dobitnik Oktobarske nagrade Grada Novog Sada za 2016. godinu. The Music Youth of Novi Sad (MONS) was founded in 1966. This cultural institution has been organizing concerts for more than two decades and ‘sustains’ the music life of the city. The Music Youth of Novi Sad (MONS) won the prise “the best organizer in 2013” by the classical music Magazine Muzika Klasika. The concerts that MONS organizes are focused on an important and valuable cultural branch – artistic music. Besides concerts of classical music, somewhat different programmes, which indicate fluid borders between classical music and ethno, jazz, and sometimes pop sounds, are also a part of the MONS repertoire. MONS organizes about 100 concerts annually, most of which are held in the Novi Sad Sinagogue, but also in the City Hall, the Name of Mary parish church, and in the halls of the Serbian National Theatre. During the summer months concerts are mainly held in the open air: in the atriums of the Museum of Vojvodina and of Saint George church in Petrovaradin, on the city beach ‘Štrand’ and in the garden of the secondary school hall of residence in Nikolajevska street. The activities of MONS include the international festival of artistic music called NOMUS (it always takes place in April), Novi Sad Music Summer, Christmas and New Year’s concerts as well as regular concert activities throughout the year. MONS is maybe mostly well-known for its NOMUS festival (1975). The fact that it has a three decade long tradition tells us that it guarantees the cultural life of the country in which it has been developed. And that is not all. In 2010 the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia declared NOMUS a manifestation of the national importance, and in 2011 NOMUS became a member of SEFA (Serbian International Festivals Association) and through this Association a member of EFFE - Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe. In 2015 Nomus was honoured with EFFE Label 2015-2016. 761 festivals from 31 countries have been selected to be part of the first generation of EFFE Label recipients. Nomus is one of these festivals! By constantly upgrading its activities, paying attention to what is currently happening on the world stage but also to the audiences’ needs, MONS is trying to keep its old audience as well as attract a new one. Owing to the manifestations organized by MONS, Novi Sad has welcomed some of the most famous ensembles and artists such as. The offices of the Music Youth of Novi Sad are in Katolička Porta 2 on the second floor, and they are open to visitors on workdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. !
