Administrative & support team for Vucjak Shelter, a non-profit no-kill animal sanctuary for abandoned, abused and special needs animals in Cumic, Serbia since 1997. Vucjak Shelter & Sanctuary provides a safe haven for unwanted, abandoned and injured animals in Čumić near Kragujevac, Serbia. The shelter is home to over 1500 dogs, plus cats and several wild animals—many of which were abandoned in front of the shelter or were found injured on the streets.

For about a year, Vučjak has had to buy and store drinking water because the shelter’s main well was deemed unsafe.

The neighboring property could offer a long-term solution. It sits on higher ground and may allow for a safer water source. It also includes an old building that could also potentially be adapted for bigger veterinary use.

We are now working toward raising $15,000–$20,000 to help secure the property.

It could solve several important problems at once and give Vučjak more room to build for the future. 💧🐾

Thank you dear supporters ❤️ food and water is essential for our angels.

A big step forward for veterinary care at Vučjak. 🐾 We Need your support 🫶🏻

A new two-room trailer has been purchased so vets can perform surgeries directly at the shelter, and work on the foundation has already started.

A veterinary couple from Belgrade has also agreed to come every weekend and perform surgeries for €25 per dog. It is a huge opportunity for change.

At the same time, treatment continues for 122 dogs in quarantine, with microchipping, vaccinations and sterilizations also underway.

There is still a lot to do, but this is real progress. Thank you for giving our dogs a second chance 🫶🏻

Happy Sunday! Unfortunately we are one day away from being out of food. This is our daily struggle... making sure we have enough food for our babies. Surely, you've seen Dejan's social media posts where he says he's too embarrassed to ask. But that's the reality of all shelters.
🐶🐶
Donations are the only source of funds. The only source for food. The only source for hope. Have you heard of "food insecurity"? These dogs, this shelter, and Dejan certainly know what food insecurity is. They live it every day. Will you please help send a bag today?
🐶🐶
We do have a $750 food match to help us get through another day. Please help if you can. Thank you. linktr.ee/vucjakshelter

Can't believe summer is almost gone. Winter will soon come and the harsh Serbian climate will begin to take its toll on Vucjak and our dogs. We keep them warm by burning wood in one of the dozens of stoves around the shelter. 🐶🔥
We are trying to be proactive by ordering our firewood in advance. Once winter comes and the snow falls, firewood prices can almost double‼️
Thank you for helping >> linktr.ee/vucjakshelter

Thank you everyone for your continued support. We appreciate your patience while we determine how to get through these difficult times and come out stronger for all the pups we have in our care.
🐶💪❤️
We do have a $1K match for food thanks to a wonderful couple of supporters. We would greatly appreciate your support as our food donations have been low.
❤️💪🐶

Bud was saved by Dejan a few months ago. He was just introduced into the pack after a period of quarantine and receiving all the required vaccinations. He's trying to make new friends. Getting some much needed food for the shelter would definitely help! linktr.ee/vucjakshelter

Where does he sleep? In a crate. Because he is only safe when Dejan is around to take care of him 😭 This little cutie patootie JRT was found with his paws cut off and was saved by Dejan. Now it's up to us to help SAVE VUCJAK. We're also looking to rehome this little guy. If you're interested in saving Vucjak and/kr taking in this handsome fella, all the links are in our bio. Please reach out. Thank you!

A little update on the very young dog we found two days ago. Swipe to see his condition just a few days ago.🐾💔 He was found badly hurt and extremely sick, and he is still in a very fragile condition. He is just a baby and has already been through so much. We are doing everything we can to give him the care and treatment he urgently needs.

Every donation makes a difference. If you can’t donate, please like, comment and share. Every action helps us reach more people. ❤️
