✍ Poruke iz 1953, vreme osnivanja
Listajući spomen-knjigu u okviru pripreme novog sajta SDPZ, vraćamo se u 1953. godinu, u vreme Prvog kongresa i osnivanja tadašnjeg Jugoslovenskog društva za proučavanje zemljišta (JDPZ). Među sačuvanim zapisima nalaze se i svojeručno ispisane reči čuvenog akademika Siniše Stankovića, koji naglašava važnost pedologije kao ekološke discipline i njen doprinos razvoju naučne misli. Spomen-knjiga čuva i poruke brojnih istaknutih naučnika iz zemlje i inostranstva, kao dragoceno svedočanstvo o počecima Društva.

✍ Messages from 1953, the time of foundation
While browsing the commemorative book as part of the preparation of the new SDPZ website, we are returning to 1953, the time of the First Congress and the foundation of the then Yugoslav Society of Soil Science (JDPZ). Among the preserved entries are handwritten words by the distinguished academician Siniša Stanković, who emphasized the importance of pedology as an ecological discipline and its contribution to the development of scientific thought. The commemorative book also preserves messages from many prominent scientists from the country and abroad, as a valuable testimony to the Society’s beginnings.

📘 Dostupan je novi prevod WRB klasifikacije!
Sa zadovoljstvom delimo vest da je objavljen prevod četvrtog izdanja publikacije World Reference Base for Soil Resources (WRB) – međunarodnog sistema za klasifikaciju zemljišta. WRB predstavlja globalni standard za imenovanje zemljišta i izradu legendi pedoloških karata, razvijen u okviru International Union of Soil Sciences.
Prevod omogućava lakšu primenu i razumevanje savremenih principa klasifikacije zemljišta u stručnom i naučnom radu širom regiona.

📘 WRB translation now available!
The translated version of the World Reference Base for Soil Resources (WRB), 4th edition, is now available, within the framework of the International Union of Soil Sciences.
The translation facilitates the application and understanding of modern soil classification principles in professional and scientific work across the region.

📍 Naučni klub | Centar za promociju nauke
Sa zadovoljstvom delimo utiske sa otvaranja izložbe „Ispod površine: tajni život zemljišta“, kojoj smo prisustvovali u petak 20. marta. Izložba na veoma kreativan i lep način prikazuje skriveni svet ispod naših nogu i približava javnosti ono čime se svakodnevno bavimo.
Posebno nam je drago što ovakva postavka pokazuje da je zemljište živo, složeno i mnogo važnije nego što se to obično misli. Za nas kao struku, to je važan doprinos podizanju svesti o značaju očuvanja zemljišta, posebno među mladima i širom javnošću.
Toplo vas pozivamo da posetite izložbu, koja će biti otvorena još mesec dana. Naučni klub Beograd otvoren je radnim danima od 15 do 19 časova i subotom od 11 do 19 časova, dok je za grupne vođene ture i prisustvo filmskim projekcijama potrebna prethodna prijava.

We are pleased to share our impressions from the opening of the exhibition “Beneath the Surface: The Secret Life of Soil”, which we attended on Friday, March 20, 2026. The exhibition presents the hidden world beneath our feet in a very creative and engaging way, bringing closer to the public what we work with every day.
We especially appreciate how this exhibition shows that soil is alive, complex, and far more important than it is usually perceived. For us as a professional community, this is an important contribution to raising awareness about the importance of soil conservation, particularly among young people and the wider public.
We warmly invite you to visit the exhibition, which will be open for another month. The Science Club Belgrade is open on weekdays from 3 PM to 7 PM and on Saturdays from 11 AM to 7 PM. Registration is required in advance for group guided tours and film screenings.

SOIL RE-UNION: PRVI UTISCI SA KONGRESA I MATURSKE FOTOGRAFIJE

Uspelo je! Zemljište nas je ponovo ujedinilo!
Četiri dana, više od 200 sjajnih ljudi, još toliko svežih ideja i energije — i jedno zajedničko uverenje: Zemljište je živi sistem koji moramo razumeti da bismo ga sačuvali.
Novi formati, kao što su Sajam projekata i π to π brzi sastanci na slepo, povezali su ljude koji veruju u isto — da se zemljište čuva znanjem, saradnjom i svešću.
Brojke:
• 207 učesnika
• 14 zemalja (od Španije do Jermenije)
• 70+ institucija
• 12 tematskih sekcija
• 90 prezentacija
• 18 projekata predstavljenih na Sajmu projekata
• 500 uspešnih π to π brzih sastanaka

Kako su učesnici istakli, uspeh jednog kongresa ne meri se samo brojkama, već i novim vezama, razmenjenim idejama i uvidima. Zajedno činimo mrežu koja živi i nakon Kongresa.
Zahvaljujemo svim učesnicima koji su oživeli ideju ujedinjenja preko granica, sektora i naučnih disciplina.

SOIL RE-UNION IN ACTION: FIRST IMPRESSIONS FROM THE CONGRESS AND THE GRADUATION PHOTOS

We did it! Soil brought us together in a true Re-Union!
Four days, more than 200 amazing people, just as many fresh ideas and energy — and one shared belief: Soil is a living system that we must understand in order to protect it.
New formats, such as the Project Fair and π to π speed blind meetings, connected people who share the same conviction — that soil is preserved through knowledge, collaboration, and awareness.
Numbers:
• 207 participants
• 14 countries (from Spain to Armenia)
• 70+ institutions
• 12 thematic sections
• 90 presentations
• 18 projects presented at the Project Fair
• 500 successful π to π speed meetings
As participants highlighted, the success of a congress is not measured only by numbers, but also by new connections, exchanged ideas, and insights. Together, we form a network that continues to thrive beyond the Soil ReUnion.
We thank all participants who brought to life the idea of unity across borders, sectors, and scientific disciplines.
