Training young singers and period instrumentalists in the historically informed performance.

Belgrade Baroque Academy is dedicated to intensively developing knowledge and skills in vocal art and baroque performance practice for young singers and instrumentalists. Through individual work with our experienced mentors, participants enhance their abilities, focusing on the technical aspects of Baroque literature. They learn effective methods and strategies for the independent study of vocal a

nd instrumental pieces and self-preparation of scores, while gaining insight into key foundational concepts, techniques, stylistic differences, and interpretative nuances that underpin the art of performance and Baroque music interpretation.

The programme also encompasses mastering opera arias, recitatives, singing in an opera ensemble, and the protocols of stagecraft in opera performance. Instrumentalists work on honing their technique on period instruments, with a particular emphasis on accompanying singers in an opera setting. All participants are actively involved in the technical analysis and interpretation of baroque repertoire, along with developing skills for public performances. Those attending the workshop will have the opportunity to showcase their talents in final performances.

🎶 Uspešno izvedena Hendlova opera „Široje, kralj Persije“ u Madlenianumu

U subotu, 7. marta 2026, u okviru jubilarne 25. Beogradske barokne akademije, na prepunom Bel Etažu Opere i teatra Madlenianum koncertno je izvedena opera „Siroe, re di Persia“ (Široje, kralj Persije) Georga Fridriha Hendla.

Ovo retko izvođeno delo iz Hendlovog londonskog perioda predstavili su vokalni solisti Beogradske barokne akademije uz ansambl New Trinity Baroque, koji svira na istorijskim instrumentima, pod dirigentskim vođstvom Predraga Goste, koji je ujedno tumačio i ulogu Hozroja II.

Na ovom rasprodatom koncertnom izvođenju opere, publika je imala priliku da čuje umetnike iz više zemalja, među kojima su, pored Goste, i kontratenori Sandro Rossi i Biraj Barkakaty, kao i soprani Silvija Radjen Kumar i Zorica Pavlović, u interpretaciji koja je spojila virtuoznost baroknog stila i snažnu dramsku ekspresiju.

U emisiji ARS SONORA na Radio Beogradu 2 istaknuto je da je ansambl New Trinity Baroque „zvučao sigurno, tonski i ritmički veoma precizno… gradeći impresivnu zvučnost“, dok je za vokalne soliste istaknuto da su pevali odlično i “ujednačeno, parirajući po preciznosti instrumentalnom sastavu".

Izvođenje je bilo rezultat devetodnevnog intenzivnog rada mentora i učesnika Akademije, koja već dvanaestu godinu okuplja mlade pevače i instrumentaliste zainteresovane za istorijski informisano izvođenje barokne muzike.

We are delighted to unveil the cast for our forthcoming operatic project at the 25th Belgrade Baroque Academy – Handel’s 'Siroe, re di Persia'.

This landmark edition of the Academy brings together an exceptional international cast of young artists and established performers, united in a shared commitment to stylistic integrity and historically informed performance.

And yes – the cast includes not one, but two countertenors. A rare treat for audiences and a true celebration of baroque vocal brilliance.

Composed in 1728 for the Royal Academy of Music in London, Siroe stands among Handel’s most refined and emotionally charged opera seria scores – a work of political tension, filial conflict, and deeply human vulnerability, illuminated by some of his most expressive arias.

The 25th Academy marks a special milestone for us, and we are proud to celebrate it with a project of such musical depth and dramatic power. Over the coming days, we will introduce each member of the cast individually.

We are delighted to announce a concert performance of George Frideric Handel’s rarely performed opera "Siroe, re di Persia" for 7 March 2026 at the Bel Etage of the Opera & Theatre Madlenianum, which will be presented by the participants of the 25th Belgrade Baroque Academy, together with the ensemble New Trinity Baroque, and directed from the harpsichord by Predrag Gosta.

Handel’s "Siroe" is a masterpiece of emotional intensity and vocal brilliance – a drama of loyalty, love, political intrigue and sacrifice set at the Persian court. In this concert version, the opera’s rich musical architecture comes to the forefront, allowing the expressive power of Handel’s arias and ensembles to shine with clarity and immediacy.

Belgrade Baroque Academy continues its mission of bringing together outstanding young singers and instrumentalists from across Europe and beyond, working in close collaboration with distinguished faculty and professional baroque musicians. This performance represents the culmination of an intensive period of study, artistic exchange and historically informed exploration of Handel’s sound world.

We are proud that several singers who appeared in the concert version of "Giulio Cesare" during our Baroque Academy in 2024 will now take part in a fully staged production on 26 January in Belgrade – with further performances planned in other cities and countries.

At the same time, we are already looking ahead to our next Belgrade Baroque Academy, taking place from 27 February to 8 March, featuring Handel’s opera "Siroe, re di Persia".

U petak, 14. novembra 2025, Beogradska Barokna Akademija i Festival rane muzike prestaviće Hendlovu operu "Alćina", na maloj sceni Opera & Theatre Madlenianum-a. Nastupaju solisti 24. Beogradske Barokne Akademije, uz ansambl New Trinity Baroque na istorijskim instrumentima. Ovo polu-scenskoj izvodjenje biće premijera ove predivne opere u Beogradu, a dan kasnije ponoviće se i u Sinagogi u Novom Sadu, na svečanom zatvaranju festivala Dani Barokne Muzike. Oba izvodjenja počinju u 19 časova.
