At the IWC Creative Art Workshop, our participants transformed fine leather into elegant handmade flower earrings — each pair reflecting individuality, imagination, and artistry. 💫
From cutting petals to assembling delicate details, every step became a moment of joy, conversation, and creative expression.

In late May we read The Names by Florence Knapp 📚✨, an alternately heartbreaking and hopeful novel that was universally praised by our members.

Spanning thirty-five years ⏳, the novel follows one family across three alternate versions of their lives, shaped by the choice of a child’s name. Checking in at seven-year intervals, the book explores autonomy, love, family ties 🤝, and the generational trauma of domestic violence.
✍️Written in precise and fluid prose, the story shows how a single decision or moment of courage can alter the course of many people’s lives. 🌎

Today we had the pleasure of discovering the vibrant world of Mexican heritage at the exhibition “Extraordinary Textiles: Mexico” at the Ethnographic Museum. 🌺

From intricate embroidery 🪡 to centuries-old weaving traditions 🧵every textile told a story of identity, artistry, and community. The exhibition features handcrafted works from Indigenous communities across Mexico, preserving ancestral knowledge through color, texture, and symbolism. 💫

Organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Mexico in Serbia 🇲🇽🇷🇸 the exhibition also celebrates 80 years of diplomatic relations between Mexico and Serbia 🤝creating a beautiful cultural bridge between the two countries. 🌍❤️

We are so thankful to the Embassy of Mexico ❤️the Ethnographic Museum 🏛️ for the exclusive guided visit, and our amazing former president Eun Hai Kim🌸 and Sonia Punin✨ for organizing this beautiful event! 💃🌮🍹

Mountains, history, and a whole lot of heart💚.
3 days, endless views, and the best company. ✨Last weekend, we took on Suva Planina and let southern Serbia completely steal our hearts. From the foggy, challenging ridge line up to Trem (1,810m) and Sokolov Kamen (1,523), to the gentle, sunny riverside paths of Sićevo Gorge, every step was a reminder of why we love the mountains. 🏔️
But it wasn’t just about the peaks! We soaked in the history at the 1908 “Sveta Petka” hydroelectric plant (still running!)💡, and at the Saint Petka ‘Ivirion’ Monastery, and rewound with local vineyards🍇 and the thermal waters of Niška Banja. A massive thank you to Konak Ramonda Serbica .ramondasicevo for the incredible hospitality, amazing food, and for making us feel right at home. We’re already planning our return! 🫶

✨🇩🇪 German Culinary Workshop🇩🇪✨

What a perfect way to wrap up a busy week! ❤️ We spent a beautiful afternoon filled with delicious food, laughter, learning, and wonderful company 👩‍🍳🌟

We are incredibly grateful to our dear member Sladi for inviting us into her beautiful, historic, and charming home and teaching us how to make traditional German Dampfnudeln: soft, fluffy, and absolutely delicious 🥟🍞😋!

From the savory version served with potato soup 🥔🍲 to the sweet one with vanilla sauce 🥟🍮, every bite was incredible 🪄.

We also enjoyed sparkling wine 🥂, juices 🍹, and classic butter pretzels 🧈🥨 during the reception, which added to the authentic and special atmosphere ✨.

Thank you, Sladi, for your warm hospitality and of course, special appreciation goes to Granny Theresia for the legendary recipe 👵🏼📜 and for clearly knowing that the secret ingredient is patience 🧘‍♀️😌 (and never opening the lid too early 🤫💨). You made us feel that anyone can do it, you just need the courage to try and let the dough rest and rise 😊💪🏻.

And of course, thank you to all the lovely ladies for the beautiful photos, joyful atmosphere, and unforgettable memories 📸✨.

🌱 Celebrating 15 Years of Growth and Giving Back! 🥳🎉

What an unforgettable day!✨ We are filled with deep gratitude as we look back on our special 15th-anniversary milestone celebrated at the stunning Botanical Garden “Jevremovac” 🌸🌳✨

Together, we enjoyed drinks among the blooms 🥂🌺, explored the green oasis of Belgrade through guided tours 🚶‍♀️🌿, and reflected on how much our community has grown! 📈❤️

To mark this historic chapter, we successfully planted a new tree in the garden 🌱🌳—a living symbol of our shared journey, deep roots, and the future growth that lies ahead! ✨🌱
During the ceremony, we were deeply honored to recognize and award our long-standing members 🏆🏅 for their outstanding contributions to the club. 🌟 Their dedication has empowered our community 💪👭, strengthened our mission 🎯, and left a lasting legacy of meaningful change in Belgrade 🇷🇸❤️🗺️

This Friday, we had the distinct honor of joining H.E. Edward Ferguson, the British Ambassador to Serbia, for the “Diplomatic Visit to the Artisanal Colony at Ljubičevo.” ✨

We are deeply grateful for the warm hospitality and inspiring words of Mayor Saša Pavlović, who introduced us to the magnificent city of Požarevac. The city holds a monumental place in global diplomacy as the birthplace of the historic Treaty of Passarowitz 📜, and is also the proud birthplace of the legendary poet and painter Milena Pavlović-Barili 🖼️ 🖋️.

Our journey took us through the beautiful city center, pausing for a moment by the status of Prince Miloš 🗽, before immersing ourselves in the local culture. It was a privilege to meet the talented artisans 🎨 and witness firsthand the immense passion and craftsmanship behind their work. ✨

🐎 A truly memorable highlight was visiting the stable to feed the horses, followed by discovering an array of exceptional local products that we are certain will soon find a home in many corners of the world 🌎:

Yesterday was all about celebrating our community, honouring the past year 🗓️, and dreaming big for the future.🌟A huge thank you to all our wonderful members for joining us and making this year so special - your energy ⚡ and dedication are what make this club thrive.🌷

Five Little Indians – ✍️ by Michelle Good

In April we read Five Little Indians, the debut novel by Cree Canadian writer Michelle Good. 📖 The book focuses on five survivors of the Indian residential school system who are navigating their trauma and finding friendship, strength and love in 1960s Vancouver. 🤝 The story revealed a chapter of Indigenous Canadian history that was unknown to most of our readers and stimulated a probing discussion about race, colonialism, human rights and dignity. 🌍🕊️

Dark Chronicles – ✍️ by Karmen Špiljak

This May we had a special meeting with Slovenian-Belgian author Karmen Špiljak to discuss her latest collection of short stories, Dark Chronicles 📓. The book includes ten unnerving tales of suspense and twisted humour 🌀. Whether focusing on dystopian technology 🤖, malevolent ghosts 👻 or mind-altering food, the stories warn the reader to be careful what you wish for ⚠️✨. This is the third of Karmen’s books that our club has read, and the author has been gracious to join us each time to discuss her creative inspiration and writing process 🖋️💭.

Spring Sparkle 🥂🌸✨ 

There’s no better way to celebrate the season than with a joyful evening of sparkling wines. 🍷✨Our special Wine Lovers May edition at .vinoteka and wine bar was all about relaxed vibes, happy faces - and great wines!

🍇From the crisp notes of the natural wines of Hungary, Slovenia or Austria to the elegance of a Cremant de Bourgogne, our hosts Rade and Shyril were taking us on a bubbly journey through Europe - and beyond!🗺️

A huge thank you to all the ladies - and surprise guests - for making this evening so special and to Rade and Shyril for hosting another wonderful tasting event! Cheers to good friends and great wine! 🥂
