The youth population should be viewed as a very fragile segment society, considering the fact that that this segment of the population is passing through an internal transition period from childhood to adolescence through to maturity, in which there is a great change in certain patterns of behavior. In this sensitive period of life, the young generation is adapting to their new internal needs as
well as to their environment, and under various influences they form their own views regarding healthcare and sexual behavior, whilst this in turn becomes the basis for their state of health in the later years. This means that health protection of young generations (including all aspects such as physical, mental, and social), present an obligation and a sense of responsibility to all segments of the society. Bearing in mind that the economic, social and cultural stability of a country depends on the health of its population as well as the way of life of its citizens, health protection of young men and women should be a priority for any state. Health protection of the population requires constant investment in social progress and prosperity, especially with regards to the health protection of the young generation. In order to achieve a better and higher quality of life, whilst following certain measures and guidelines which have been provided by various international and domestic documents, it requires that there be continuous work on creating and maintaining the healthcare system, which is to provide all individuals with adequate care and legal protection, regardless of religious, national, political, sexual, gender, ethnicity, or any other orientation and/ affirmation.
“AS” was established with an aim of actively involving young people who live with HIV, into community. Through acquiring new skills and knowledge we will enable the young people who live with HIV to further develop their personalities and skills in order to become full members our community and productive and successful adults who enjoy all rights which are guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia.
