Making Renewable Energy Communities work in practice!
Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) are now part of Kosovo’s legal framework, but turning this new opportunity into functioning local initiatives requires knowledge, coordination and practical tools.
Together with our partner, the Community Development Fund (CDF), we are supporting a series of two-day training sessions for municipal officials, micro and small businesses, and civil society organisations across Kosovo.
The trainings cover the practical aspects of establishing and managing RECs, including their legal and technical framework, governance and membership, registration and grid connection, smart metering, energy sharing and billing.
The first training brought together participants from Prishtina, Podujeva, Fushë Kosova, Obiliq, Lipjan, Gračanica and Drenas. Further sessions will take place in Mitrovica, Gjilan, Prizren, Peja and Gjakova throughout September and October.
By strengthening the capacity of local actors, we aim to support municipalities and communities in understanding how Renewable Energy Communities can contribute to a more democratised overall energy sector in Kosovo, and in the process push for more participatory, decentralised and just energy transition in Kosovo.
