Nala is the last of her siblings still waiting for her forever home — and she’s more than ready for her turn. ❤️

Bella is getting adopted this weekend, so now we’re hoping Nala will be next.

Nala is about 6 months old and only 5 kg, and she’s expected to stay a little girl at around 6–8 kg (13–18 lbs) full grown. Her mama was a sausage-dog mix, although Nala definitely missed the short-leg gene!

This little girl had a very rough beginning. As a tiny puppy she survived severe malnutrition, parvo and a parasite infestation. Today, she’s healthy, vet-checked and dewormed, and has tested negative for ehrlichia and heartworm. She is scheduled to be spayed next month.

And according to her foster mom, she has turned into the silliest, sweetest little companion.

Nala is:

• Housetrained with great house manners
• Good with dogs and cats
• Crate familiar, although these days she prefers sleeping curled up politely at her foster mom’s feet
• Great in the car
• Good on leash and learning to be off leash at the beach
• VERY food motivated, which makes training easier
• Playful, but perfectly happy entertaining herself with her toys when everyone else is done
• Happy adventuring, sitting at a café or just hanging out watching TV — and yes, she actually watches TV sometimes
• A good little alert dog who will let you know when someone approaches, but isn’t a dog who barks just to bark

She can initially be a little unsure around unfamiliar dogs, but with introductions she is gaining confidence quickly.

Mostly, Nala just wants to be included. Whatever you’re doing, she wants to do it with you.

Her siblings have found their people. Now we need to find hers.

FRIDAY IS ADOPTION DAY AT THE DOMINICAL FERIA!

We’ll be back at the Dominical Feria this Friday with puppies, adult dogs, a sweet senior and plenty of kittens looking for homes.

Come meet:

🐕 Nala & Bella — sweet sisters, about 6 months old
🐕 Cookie & Max — our adorable black-and-white Heeler-mix puppies, about 5 months old. You may remember these two from when they were dealing with some pretty rough skin issues—they’ve come a long way!
🐕 Santi — about 7 months old, energetic, friendly and a total social butterfly
🐕 Ringo — our sweet adult hound mix
🐕 Candy — our sweet, easygoing senior girl looking for a comfortable forever home
🐱 Kittens! — plenty of little ones looking for families of their own

And we’ll have one special guest who isn’t quite ready for adoption yet:

🐕 Azabache — one of Don Cristóbal’s more fearful dogs. He still needs time and work before he’ll be ready for a home, but he’ll be joining us at the Feria to practice being around people and learn that humans can be safe and kind. Simply giving him some space and a positive experience is part of his journey.

How is Bella still waiting for her forever family? 💕

Bella is about 6 months old, and somehow this sweet little girl still hasn’t found her person.

She has the adorable look of a Lab puppy with the personality of an old soul. She’s gentle, mellow and affectionate — playful enough to still be a puppy, but without the nonstop puppy chaos.

And her foster has already done so much of the work:

• Housetrained
• Great with dogs AND cats
• Great on leash
• Off leash, she stays close, checks in and comes when called
• Fantastic in the car and out in public
• Happy to relax beside you at a café for hours
• Not a big barker — she’ll alert when someone approaches, then settles when asked

She’s expected to be around 11 kg / 24 lbs full grown, making her a really nice medium-sized companion.

Bella had a rough physical start to life, including malnutrition and parvo, but she came through it with the sweetest temperament. She has no known behavioral issues — she’s simply ready for a home of her own.

Bella is currently in the Uvita/Dominical area, and transport can be considered for the right home.

❤️ AN UPDATE ON DON CRISTÓBAL’S DOGS

We have some really wonderful updates to share—and we also still need your help.

When we first shared the story of Don Cristóbal’s dogs, we were trying to figure out how to get a large group of dogs the veterinary care, safe placements and second chances they needed. Thanks to so many of you, several of them are now starting completely new chapters.

Piolín had the best kind of “foster fail”—the wonderful family who took him in fell in love and officially adopted him!

Negro, our mostly blind senior estimated to be 14–16 years old, went to his forever home on Friday. After such a long life, we are incredibly happy knowing this sweet old man finally has a home of his own.

Safiro has a potential adopter, and things are looking very promising. 🤞

Dubai and Candy are both safe and loved in wonderful foster homes while they continue looking for their forever families.

Neron is in a safe place and receiving the care he needs, but we would still love to find him a foster or forever home.

And now that some space has opened up, Grettel is preparing to bring Azabache to Uvita. He is one of the dogs who is still very distrustful of people and remains on the property about two hours away. We’re hoping that with time, patience and consistent kindness, he can learn that people can be safe and loving—and eventually have his own chance at adoption.

BUT THE EXPENSES HAVEN’T STOPPED

The money raised so far has helped enormously with basic veterinary care, but we have already spent more than we have raised.

Several of the dogs tested positive for Ehrlichia and required treatment. Dubai has also been receiving ongoing care and weekly checkups for a heart arrhythmia and fluid in his lungs, while Neron and Piolín have needed medications and treatment for significant skin problems.

And since we originally started this fundraiser, the emergencies haven’t stopped. We’ve helped with Benito after he was hit by a car, as well as multiple unexpected abandoned dogs who needed to be taken in, spayed or neutered, vaccinated and given veterinary care.

Seeing dogs like Piolín and Negro finally go home makes every bit of this worth it. But we need continued support to keep caring for the dogs still waiting—and to be able to say yes when the next animal unexpectedly needs us.

She looks right into your soul when you talk to her 💕 Meet Candy ❤️

Candy is one of Don Cristóbal’s personal dogs, and at around 8-10 years old, what she needs now is pretty simple: someone to love her through her senior years.

Candy spent her life living freely with Don Cristóbal on his property, and she’s a wonderfully chill, independent senior companion. She doesn’t need constant entertainment or a busy life — she’d be very happy with a comfortable place to call home, a person to keep company and, most importantly, plenty of belly rubs.

Her current foster has gotten to know her and says:

• She loves belly rubs
• Completely potty trained
• Gets along well with dogs and cats
• Learning her name and already coming when called
• An excellent alert dog when someone comes onto the property
• She looks right into your soul when you talk to her 💕
• Not a fan of car rides
• Very afraid of thunder and needs to be allowed safely inside where she can hide and feel secure

Candy isn’t looking for a grand adventure. She’s looking for a person and a peaceful home where she can spend the next few years knowing she is safe, comfortable and loved.

💙 Meet beautiful Zafiro. 💙

His name means sapphire—a stone that, for thousands of years, has symbolized wisdom, nobility, protection, and a divine connection.

And somehow, the name fits him perfectly.

Zafiro is a strong, beautiful boy weighing around 20–22 kilos. He is brave, confident, loyal, playful, and carries a powerful yet gentle energy. He is the kind of dog who makes you feel safe simply by being by your side. 🐾💙

Zafiro is one of the dogs rescued by Don Cristóbal. He came into our hands just last month after spending the last two years waiting for someone to give him a chance at a forever home.

We believe Zafiro is around 2–3 years old, and today, he is finally experiencing something he has waited a very long time for: the feeling of being cared for, understood, and loved.

He is currently being fostered by Karen, who is giving him the opportunity to discover what life outside of the place he once knew can truly be.

ANOTHER GREAT DAY AT THE DOMINICAL FERIA!

We had such a fun Adoption Day in Domi today—and for a few of our dogs, it may have been a life-changing one.

Almita went home with a potential adopter! Even more exciting, they may also be interested in her sweet little puppy, Kokoa.

In the meantime, Kokoa headed to a wonderful potential adopter. He’s just 2 months old and truly the sweetest, calmest little puppy.

Safiro caught someone’s eye today too. We have our fingers crossed that something wonderful comes from it!

And then there’s Negro. One of Don Cristóbal’s senior dogs, Negro is 12–14 years old and has spent so much of his life tied up. Today, he was picked up to go to his FOREVER HOME. We could not be happier for this sweet old man. ❤️

Our other senior, Dubai, also left the Feria for a new foster home—where he’ll be staying with another former Feria dog, Frida.

And everyone else got plenty of cuddles, attention and love from all of you who stopped by.
