We are a community center in Uvita, Costa-Rica holding space for our authenticity and awakening.

This Sunday, Awake is holding a special a full-day journey through movement, music and sound.

We begin at 9:30 AM with Intro to Floorwork led by Andrea - an accessible space to explore our relationship with the ground, discover new movement pathways and approach the body with curiosity.

At 11:00 AM, Serena Ancestra takes us into Ecstatic Dance Church for a shared journey of rhythm, freedom, connection and expression inside the Shala. Afro/ Latin world beats infused with live ancestral percussions in a ceremonial setting.

Kids Corner will be open during the dance, giving children a welcoming space to play and connect with oversight while parents have more freedom to participate in the experience.

Then, at 3:00 PM, we slow down and turn inward for Encounters with Heaven: a Sound Medicine Ceremony designed to carry us into deep listening, presence and integration.

A FULL SUNDAY THIS WEEKEND AT AWAKE: SEPTEMBER 20

This Sunday, we’re gathering for an especially full day of movement, music, connection and sound medicine.

9:30 AM - Intro to Floorwork with Andrea
Explore new ways of moving with the floor through play, awareness and curiosity. Open to beginners.

11:11 AM - Ecstatic Dance Church with Serena Ancestra
Afro/ Latin world beats infused with live ancestral percussions in a ceremonial setting.Come as you are and move with us through a journey of rhythm, expression and connection in the Shala.

Kids Corner will be open during Ecstatic Dance Church, offering children a welcoming place to play and connect with oversight, so parents can have more space to participate in the dance.

3:00 PM - Encounters with Heaven: Sound Medicine Ceremony
Close the afternoon with an immersive journey through sound, vibration and deep listening.

As always, Cafe Cora will be preparing a beautiful organic & locally sourced buffet served at 1:30PM!

Möva Lab with Yulama Saturday!

What happens when we stop trying to control movement - and allow ourselves to be moved?

Möva Lab is an exploration of the body through somatic movement, improvisation, soft acrobatics, and connection.

We’ll begin within, listening to the subtle intelligence of the body, before expanding outward into our relationship with space, gravity, the Earth, and one another.

Through movement, we’ll explore the dance between will and surrender - discovering how force can be redirected, recycled, and transformed into flow.

Expect subtle strength, soft acrobatic play, improvisation, and space to discover your own unique movement language.

A practice of listening. Surrendering. Connecting. Moving.

Tonight: Men's Circle with Hunter Johnson, a space built for men to slow down
and actually be heard.

It opens with gentle breathwork, moves into open sharing, real talk without needing
to fix anything, and closes with Yoga Nidra to help it all settle.

Come as you are. Breathe. Share. Listen. Rest.

Bring a brother! The more the merrier.

Saturday at Awake is shaping up to be a full day of inner work.

Möva Lab: Our Subtle Strength with Yulama (9:00AM - 12:00PM) opens the morning, a three hour movement workshop built around the kind of strength that lives underneath tension and old habit, not the kind you push for.

Later that afternoon, Holotropic Breathwork (2:00PM - 4:30PM) with Isamar González offers a guided breath journey through conscious breathing, movement, and sound, a space to release what's been stored and reconnect with something steadier underneath it.

Come for one, or come for both.

Tomorrow, we’re taking over the Surya Shala for 3 hours of flying, balancing, handstanding, laughing, wobbling, catching each other… and probably discovering muscles we forgot existed.

Join Andrew 7 Sealy + Kim Maya for AcroYoga 101 + Handstands. A playful exploration of trust, connection, surrender & movement

And despite what your brain might be telling you:
* You do NOT need an acro partner.
* You do NOT need AcroYoga experience.
* You do NOT need to already know how to handstand.

We’ll explore partner balance and mindful movement while playing with four ingredients for real connection: Responsibility, Energy, Authenticity & Connection.

Tuesdays are for the whole family!!

Family Day is a weekly space for children and parents to slow down, play, connect, and recharge together in the heart of the jungle.

Led by Dayna, the morning includes guided, age-appropriate activities designed to inspire creativity, movement, and exploration - with the option to head to the river for splashing, floating, and unstructured play.

At the heart of Family Day is a safe, loving space where children can be together in harmony, learning to treat one another with kindness and compassion while embracing curiosity and playfulness.

Café Cora will be open, offering delicious breakfast, brunch, and refreshments.

A new week with new opportunities and aligned intentions has arrived at Awake!

Mornings start with yoga on the mat, Monday through Thursday. Tuesday brings Family Day back to the Shala! Wednesday afternoon, Men's Circle gathers again. Thursday, Authentic Relating continues its conversation on connection. Saturday, AcroYoga 101 + Handstatnds returns for those ready to try something upside down.

And Sunday, as always, the grand finale closes with Contact Improv and Ecstatic Dance! Featuring WEarth on the decks.
