Mangroves and coral reefs are more connected than you might think. 🌊 Their roots provide important nursery habitat for marine life, help filter coastal waters, and protect the ecosystems downstream, including the coral reefs we work to keep healthy. 🐟🦀

Este septiembre, nos unimos nuevamente a la comunidad coralina mundial para crear conciencia durante el Mes de Concientización sobre el Blanqueamiento de los Corales. 🌎

El blanqueamiento de los corales es una señal de alerta de que nuestros arrecifes están bajo presión. Pero crear conciencia es solo el comienzo. La restauración, la protección y la acción también importan.

Este mes, nuestro logo se blanquea. 🤍
Una pequeña acción para generar conciencia sobre el blanqueamiento de los corales y recordar por qué seguimos trabajando para devolverle el color a nuestros arrecifes🪸

This September, we’re once again standing with the global coral community for Coral Bleaching Awareness Month. 🌎

Coral bleaching is a warning sign that our reefs are under pressure. But awareness is just the beginning. Restoration, protection, and action matter.

This month, we’re turning our logo white to bring attention to coral bleaching — reminding the world what’s at stake and why we’re committed to bringing the color back. 🪸

Together, we can restore hope beneath the waves. 💙🌊

🌊 Meet Pablo Piedra, Co-Founder and CEO of Costa Rica Coral Restoration
🇦🇷 Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He always loved the water and animals, and after trying out several majors in university, he finally found his passion: marine biology.
🤿 He moved to Patagonia to study and took a job at a dive shop there, where he discovered his true passion for diving.
❤️ He moved to Costa Rica 21 years ago after meeting his now-wife and deciding to dive in warm waters instead. The day they met, he told her it was his dream to live in Costa Rica; she didn’t believe him until she met his family, who all said the same thing.
💪 After 15 years working in tourism, he co-founded Costa Rica Coral Restoration, driven by wanting to give back to the environment that gave him so much.
🪸 What he loves most is watching the way people’s beliefs and ideas change during lab visits.
🐟 His hope is to restore the reefs to how they were when he first arrived in Costa Rica, or better.

🇦🇷 Nació y creció en Buenos Aires, Argentina. Siempre amó el agua y los animales, y después de probar varias carreras en la universidad, finalmente encontró su pasión: la biología marina.
🤿 Se mudó a la Patagonia para estudiar y trabajó en una tienda de buceo, donde descubrió su verdadera pasión por el buceo.
❤️ Se mudó a Costa Rica hace 21 años, después de conocer a quien hoy es su esposa y decidir bucear en aguas cálidas. El día que se conocieron, le dijo que su sueño era vivir en Costa Rica; ella no le creyó hasta que conoció a su familia, quienes dijeron lo mismo.
💪 Después de 15 años trabajando en turismo, cofundó Costa Rica Coral Restoration, motivado por el deseo de devolverle al medio ambiente todo lo que le dio.
🪸 Lo que más le gusta es ver cómo cambian las creencias e ideas de las personas durante las visitas al laboratorio.
🐟 Su esperanza es restaurar los arrecifes a como estaban cuando llegó a Costa Rica, o mejor.
