With your donations we are able to feed, host and provide veterinarian care for cats and dogs rescued from the streets or from precarious circumstances and provide them with the necessary care until they find a home. You can do a one time donation for a specific cat or dog in need in our shelter or you can become their sponsor by doing a monthly contribution.

TIGRE IS ADOPTED. ❤️ A few days ago, this was his freedom ride home. After everything this sweet boy has been through, this is the ending we were hoping for. No more shelter. No more waiting.

Tigre has a bed and a family. Tigre is finally HOME ❤️🐾

NO dog should live in a kennel, much less a senior dog ! Thank you to everyone who helped him get here, even the property management that evicted him, this wouldn’t have been possible without you. 🙏❤️🐾

PEPE JUST RAN A 4K! 🏅Look at that face.
Today Pepe traded shelter life for a day of adventure and absolutely crushed his Doggie Day Out, completing a 4K Trail Dog Run and earning his very own medal. Thank you Jeff for such an amazing experience !

This is the same little Pepe who was rescued in Matapalo with his mama and siblings, covered in ticks and fleas, his little tail already cut off. Today, he was out in the world running, exploring and looking THIS happy. ❤️🐾🙏

Days like this mean so much to shelter dogs. They get to experience life outside the shelter, meet people, explore new places and show everyone who they really are.

And Pepe? He showed us he’s ready for more adventures. He just needs someone to share them with.

ADOPT BERTA - Our volunteers voted, and BERTA is our Puppy of the Week.❤️🐾 Why? Because she might just be the perfect puppy.

Almost 4 months old, Berta is a healthy sweet, happy, easygoing, incredibly smart girl and gives us zero trouble. She is working this week in her leash skills and has been doing so well! Berta loves kids, she is social and wow just so beautiful!

It’s hard to believe this little girl was once dumped in a trash can with her brother.

Someone threw her away. We know someone else is going to treasure her …. Could that be you ?

Meet the Artist 💜

Meet our volunteer Katie Trapp (Trapp Art), a Denver-based mixed-media artist and educator originally from New Orleans. Katie studied Visual Arts at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) and later earned her degree in Microbiology from Mississippi State University.

Her artwork is heavily inspired by nature and combines acrylic painting with collage, photography, maps and botanical imagery, which makes the ocean-inspired surfboard she created for Halfway Home pretty perfect.

While volunteering with us, Katie donated her time and talent to hand-paint this one-of-a-kind surfboard for our raffle, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting Halfway Home.

We’re so grateful to have had Katie as part of our volunteer family. ❤️

Thank you for showing up for my family yesterday.❤️🐾

Because of your donations, I was able to get spayed and receive the veterinary care I needed. For the first time in a while, I can rest.❤️

My babies are safe at the hospital, but they need fosters now. They’re growing, getting into everything, and this mama is officially ready to recover and retire.

My human, whom everyone lovingly calls Mr. Abuelo, is almost 80. He rescued me when I was dumped in his neighborhood, he loves us, but this little family became more than he could manage alone.

CEBADILLA Puppies - URGENT PLEA FOR HELP
I’m typing this with tears in my eyes. Our team went to a small village called Cebadilla to help a senior man going through rough times. The plan was simple: bring food, medication, deworm the puppies, arrange to spay Mama, take photos and try to find homes.

Instead, We came back with all of them. We promise to come back to help the neighbors. We left bags of food . And to be completely transparent:

We do not have the space.
We do not have the funds.
We do not have enough volunteers.
And the cases are not stopping.😭

Our team keeps saying yes because leaving them behind is sometimes simply not an option. Look at them, look deep into their eyes, would you leave them !

But we cannot keep doing this without you.

🚨URGENT 🚨 Please help, this dog has been alone and fending for himself in La Garita and today we have received reports of kids throwing rocks and sticks at him. He seems to have a very sweet nature and has been fed by neighbors. We do not have any space for him, our kennels are FULL, but we can’t leave him out there, he needs veterinarian care we are willing to provide but someone needs to help us here and step up and offer a corner in their house and a fenced yard for him to recover We hope with your help to find his family but our hopes are not high at the moment and our hearts are feeling really broken. 😭🚨💔HELP PLEASE 😭

PS - we cannot afford to be late when a life depends upon us ☹️
