Soles2Sarchi

Soles2Sarchi Soles2Sarchi has successfully sponsored over 200 students in impoverished communities in Costa Rica.

Providing students with shoes and school supplies, essential to acquiring an education. Due to the extreme poverty among families with school-aged children, many students are unable to regularly attend school. The primary reason for this unfortunate occurrence is that most families cannot afford to pay the school fees in combination with purchasing food, shoes, and school supplies. Some children a

re so impoverished that they cannot afford a single pair of shoes and are forced to relinquish their desires for an education. The purpose of soles2sarchi is to provide disadvantaged students in Sarchi with a Christmas present containing a pair of shoes and basic school essentials. With your help we can ensure that all children have the equal opportunity and access to basic education.

Thank you again to everyone who helped our group provide students of Sabanilla with Christmas presents. The boxes got to Costa Rica just before December 24th, and we were able to put smiles on the faces of all 75 students!
Remember guys, ``Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.`` Margaret Mead
And a special thank you to the hardest working teacher I know, Mauricio Perez, the man responsible for playing Santa this year in Sarchi.

To demonstrate our tremendous appreciation for all the help we've received, soles2sarchi will be giving out these colourful Pura Vida bracelets with any monetary donation made towards our cause of providing children in Sarchi, Costa Rica with shoes and various school supplies.
What is Pura Vida?
Pura vida is a Costa Rican phrase. It literally means pure life, however, the real meaning is closer to "plenty of life", "full of life", "this is living!", "going great", or "real living. The phrase can be used both as a greeting or a farewell, as an answer expressing contentment or as a way of saying Thank You.

I cannot express how happy I am with the incredible response from the Laurier Brantford community. Special thank you to the Dean of Students, Adam Lawrence, for all his help.
Due to the incredible response of the Laurier Brantford community all the students at Escuela Sabanilla have already been matched up. However, as I am sure most of you can imagine, there are an insurmountable number of children living in equal or worse poverty. I am requesting that those still interested create a generic "boy" or "girl" box, that way these can be given to students at other impoverished school's an institutions I have worked and volunteered at. On that note, shoe boxes for "babies" are also graciously accepted. Again generic boy or girl baby clothing, bottles, bibs, etc. even from the Dollarstore are such a rare commodity in some of the households I have visited in Costa Rica's remote mountain villages, where 10 or more people live in a windowless, one room shack.
Please email [email protected] if you have any questions.
Thanks again guys

So Happy to announce that there are officially less than 10 Sabbanilla students who are not matched with a Laurier Brantford student for the soles2sarchi initiative!
Remember the shoeboxes must be brought to the Dean of Student's office by mid-November!
Thank you for the enthusiastic participation LB
