Yesterday, we had the honor of welcoming representatives from the Swiss Embassy to La Carpio as part of the inauguration of our newly updated centers. 🇨🇭🇨🇷

During their visit, they also took the time to learn more about our programs and the work we carry out throughout La Carpio, including the Food Bank, Montessori, Abuelas, Centro Modelo, La Libertad, and Río Torres.

Our entire team is incredibly grateful and proud to share the progress, dedication, and hard work that goes into strengthening these programs and serving our communities.

It was a full day of connection, learning, and celebrating the work being done together. We are grateful to our Swiss partners for their support and for taking the time to experience our work firsthand! ❤️

This weekend, we also had the opportunity to take part in the screening of Phoenix, a rock opera short film directed by longtime friend and supporter of the CRHF, Bruce Callow.

The film portrays the life of a soldier and explores the lasting effects that war can have on those who experience it.

Following the screening, Gail joined a panel discussion, sharing her experiences working with veterans and with the children of refugees from war-torn countries such as El Salvador and Nicaragua during the 1980s and 1990s.

We were especially proud to bring along a group of young people from our Rescate Sports League. Many are children of people who lived through those difficult periods of conflict and displacement. Today, they have the opportunity to grow up in Costa Rica—a country without a military—and build a very different future for themselves and their families.

Thank you to Bruce for the invitation and for creating a film that opens the door to important conversations about war, its human impact, and the hope for a more peaceful future.

🌿 What an eventful weekend at CRHF! 🌿

We welcomed a wonderful group of students from Centro Modelo, accompanied by Teacher Marisol, to Casa Quetzal. During their visit, the students participated in fun and educational Eco-Camp activities, connecting with nature, learning, and each other. 🌱💚

We were also honored to inaugurate the new Cultural Center that the JD Sheth Foundation group helped build during their recent stay at Casa Quetzal. It was a very special occasion, made even more meaningful by the presence of our Guest of Honor, Indigenous Leader and Healer Juan Sánchez, accompanied by his daughter, Rosemary.

Moments like these remind us that what begins as a dream can become something real — a place where culture, education, community, and hope come together.

The dream is becoming real. Thank you for sharing it with us! ❤️

Hoy tuvimos el agrado de recibir a las representantes del Premio Calidad de Vida de la Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR). Durante su visita compartimos parte de la labor que realizamos en La Carpio, conversando sobre nuestros programas y el impacto que, junto a la comunidad, buscamos generar cada día.

Agradecemos sinceramente el tiempo que dedicaron para conocernos, escuchar nuestras experiencias y aprender más sobre nuestro trabajo.
