🌟 Welcome Meri and Katie! 🌟

We are excited to welcome Meri and Katie, our newest volunteer teachers from Vanderbilt University!

As individual volunteers, they will be serving with us for the next two months, focusing on youth development and supporting local educators. They will be working alongside teachers through our Montessori and Centro Modelo programs to help strengthen and support the public school system.

Thank you, Meri and Katie, for sharing your time, knowledge, and passion with our community. We look forward to the positive impact you will make in the lives of children and youth!

Today’s project: Read a book with a volunteer… then write your own book together!

Reading helps children build language, imagination, and confidence. By creating their own stories, they become authors, artists, and dreamers all at once.

A simple activity can inspire a lifelong love of learning.

A few weeks ago, we were honored to welcome Vincent Laurent, Governor of the Swiss Embassy in Costa Rica.

Throughout his term, Vincent supported three important projects that have made a lasting impact on the communities we serve: the renovation of the hanging bridge in Cabécar territory over the Río Chirripó, the construction of a health clinic in Upper Chirripó serving Cabécar communities around Näri, and most recently, the renovation of our community centers in La Carpio.

Last night, we had the privilege of attending his farewell celebration as he begins a new chapter in life. We are deeply grateful for his trust, his partnership, and his belief in the work we do.

Gracias, Vincent, por creer en nosotros y confiar plenamente en el trabajo que realizamos.

Thank you for sharing our dream and helping make it a reality!

We wish you every success in the journey ahead!

Last week, we hosted a Health Fair for our beneficiaries, providing vision screenings, dental care, and general medical services to individuals and families in our community.

We are deeply grateful to the dedicated medical professionals and students who volunteered their time, skills, and compassion to make this event possible. Your support has a meaningful impact on the lives of those we serve.

In addition to providing healthcare services, the students conducted interviews and home visits, gaining valuable insight into the living conditions, healthcare access, and social realities faced by many communities in Costa Rica.

Thank you for your commitment to learning, serving, and making a difference!

This week we helped remodel the police women of San Jose’s sleeping quarters, including finishing the plastering, power outlets, and probably most importantly, a door.

The police who patrol la Carpio and keep a safe and peaceful environment are vital for a healthy and peaceful community. It’s our honor to be able to contribute our part to their efforts.

“Some moments are just too precious. At a meeting, this woman gave me a hug. It seems that 20 years ago her baby girl was very ill. And apparently I gave her money to provide a breathing apparatus. The “ baby” is now 22 and that is her on the right side looking at her baby self thanks to AI. And just to put the icing on the cake she decided to add Jesus to the mix. Amazing.”
