La semana pasada tuvimos el placer de recibir a un maravilloso grupo de educadores y educadoras listos para disfrutar del bosque lluvioso.
Juntos aprendimos sobre la vida social de los monos capuchinos, la vida secreta del bosque a través de cámaras trampa y tuvimos la enorme suerte de poder disfrutar trabajando con dos especies de tortugas, baula y verde 🐢.
Gracias por haber disfrutado con nosotras de todas estas maravillas, gracias por salir del aula para volver a avivar esa curiosidad y gracias por ser unos educadores geniales!

In June, we welcomed our Open Enrollment group to the Monkeys and Felines Program! Together, we hiked through the forest to place camera traps, spent early mornings searching for monkeys, witnessed a nesting sea turtle, released hatchlings, experienced a flying termite invasion, and enjoyed countless wildlife encounters and great conversations along the way. We had the pleasure to have an amazing group from St. Catherine's & St. Christopher's Schools from Richmond, Virginia, USA.
The first part of their journey began at Pacuare Reserve, where they were involved in sea turtle conservation, monkeys' monitoring and camera traps research for felines and their preys. Also they conducted their own research projects at the Reserve.
Later on, we moved to Lapa Verde Wildlife Refugee, where they did the presentations for their science researchs about sea turtles hatchlings, crabs and leaf-cutter ants. We also had the chance to see many different species of wildlife and finish this amazing experience with water rafting at Hacienda Pozo Azul.
Thanks for your presence and we hope that you enjoyed your time in Costa Rica.

Unos días atrás, recibimos al grupo de estudiantes de Osage City en Kansas.
Nuestro curso inició entre mariposas y ranas en el bosque tropical lluvioso de Veragua y luego continuó en la costa caribeña donde de forma experiencial aprendieron sobre tortugas marinas y el desarrollo de proyectos de investigación científica en Reserva Pacuare.
También tuvimos la increíble oportunidad de tomar datos biométricos de neonatos de tortuga baula como parte de las actividades.

A few days ago, we hosted a group of students from Osage City, Kansas.
Our course began among butterflies and frogs in the Veragua Rainforest and then continued on the Caribbean coast, where they learned about sea turtles and the development of scientific research projects at Pacuare Reserve through hands-on experience. We also had the incredible opportunity to collect biometric data from leatherback turtle hatchlings as part of the activities. Thank you for your positive attitude throughout the course! 🌿🐢 We had the pleasure of hosting a field trip with students and faculty from Indiana University to learn about our sea turtle conservation program and experience the incredible biodiversity of Costa Rica.

Con mucha curiosidad y miedo a los insectos el grupo de Global Sustainability Project vino a Costa Rica y disfrutó y salió de su zona de confort, logrando muchos aprendizajes sobre naturaleza, conservación y personales. Con estudiantes muy creativos y participativos la experiencia EPI una vez más fue incríblemente impredecible y gratificante!

Full of curiosity and a touch of insect fear, the Global Sustainability Project group came to Costa Rica and thoroughly enjoyed themselves, stepping outside their comfort zone and gaining valuable insights into nature, conservation, and personal growth. With such creative and engaged students, the EPI experience was once again incredibly unpredictable and rewarding!

The students and professors of Rye Country Day School enjoyed an adventurous journey through the Caribbean forests of Costa Rica. They searched for sea turtles in the Pacuare Reserve, explored the rainforest on guided forest walks, and participated in a fruit tasting activity at the Tirimbina Biological Station. They also conducted research on plants, animals, and aquatic macroinvertebrates, gaining valuable hands on experience in tropical ecology and conservation. Thank you so much for your visit! Regards!

Catlin Gable grupo tuvo la mágica experiencia de vivir Pacuare y la fuerza de la naturaleza y el bosque en todo su esplendor, desde las tormentas eléctricas que les permitió ver una tortuga carey, hasta dos baulas anidando una a la par de otra. Mucha biodiversidad, esfuerzos de conservación entre monitoreo de monos y liberación de tortugas bebés, fueron días cargados de mucho a aprendizaje, emoción y diversión.

Complementando su paso por Costa Rica con un intercambio cultural con el Liceo San Antonio del Humo y un city tour de San José donde conocieron más sobre la cultura costarricense, sabemos que esta aventura se repetirá el próximo año! Gracias por toda la buena energía y apertura para aprender sobre nuestro país!.........................................................................

Catlin Gable group had the magical experience of visiting Pacuare and witnessing the raw power of nature and the forest in all its splendor. From thunderstorms that allowed them to spot a hawksbill turtle to two leatherback turtles nesting side by side, they were treated to a wealth of biodiversity and conservation efforts, including monkey monitoring and the release of baby turtles. Their days were filled with learning, excitement, and fun.

Complementing their time in Costa Rica with a cultural exchange at the San Antonio del Humo High School and a city tour of San José, where they learned more about Costa Rican culture, we know this adventure will be repeated next year! Thank you for all the positive energy and openness to learning about our country!

This past week we had an amazing time with the University of West Florida, having the best of lucks, we observed a leatherback mama, hatchlings, and even an elusive hawksbill!! We also enjoyed in Pacuare forest with the coolest reptiles, monkeys, sloths, frogs and agami herons! After that we had a great hike and night walk in Tirimbina, where students presented their research project.
