Every child deserves to grow up safe, healthy, happy, and free from exploitation.

One of the most common tools used in trafficking is grooming. It rarely looks dangerous at first — it can begin with attention, gifts, validation, affection, secrecy, or someone slowly testing boundaries to gain trust and control.

That’s why awareness matters.

Here are a few ways to help protect vulnerable children:

• Keep open conversations without shame or fear
• Teach children that safe adults respect boundaries
• Pay attention to secrecy, manipulation, or sudden isolation
• Encourage kids to speak up when something feels “off”
• Listen calmly and believe them when they share concerns

Awareness saves lives, and prevention starts with informed communities.

Awareness protects children.
Every child deserves to grow up safe, healthy, happy, and with their boundaries respected.

We often look for a monster in the shadows, waiting for a story that begins with a stranger and a forced abduction. But the truth is much quieter—and much closer to home.
Human trafficking doesn’t always start with a crime; it often starts with a “friendship,” a “romance,” or a “once-in-a-lifetime” job offer. It begins with grooming and manipulation, slowly turning trust into a tool for coercion.
The girl in the window, the friend on their phone, the neighbor you see every day—exploitation often hides in plain sight, masquerading as a normal part of our world.
Swipe through to see why the myths we believe are the very things that keep victims hidden. It’s time to change how we see the problem so we can finally start seeing the people who need us.
Awareness isn’t just a post; it’s a shield. Let’s keep our eyes open.

Not all exploitation looks the same.

Sometimes it looks like forced labor.
Sometimes it looks like manipulation, addiction, debt, fear, or abuse.

Many victims are controlled long before they ever realize they’re trapped.

Awareness matters because when people understand the signs, they are more able to protect, speak up, and help bring hope to those affected.

Behind every story is a person who deserves freedom, dignity, and a future. ❤️‍🩹

Not every story looks the same.
Not every victim realizes they are one.

Exploitation can affect anyone—children, women, men.
Sometimes it hides in plain sight.

Stay aware.
Speak up.
Be part of the change.

Not all victims look like what you expect.
Not all stories are visible.

Human trafficking is happening closer than we think—even here in Costa Rica. It often begins with manipulation, trust, and silence, not force.

Many victims are too afraid to speak. Others go unnoticed because we don’t know what to look for.

Pay attention.
Ask questions.
Trust your instincts.

Awareness can save lives.

If something feels off, don’t ignore it. Learn the signs, educate others, and support organizations working on the front lines.

Because sometimes, the difference between freedom and exploitation is someone noticing.

For six years, Gina thought her calling would begin the moment a rescue happened.

That the mission… was the rescue.

But when she stepped into Face of Justice, her story didn’t start in the field — it started in the quiet.

In the listening.
In the sitting with survivors.
In the moments no one sees.

She saw the confusion.
The trauma.
The long road to healing that doesn’t end when someone is “freed.”

And somewhere in that space, her understanding changed.

So when she finally went to Asia for rescue training… she arrived ready — but not the same.

Because now she knew:
Rescue is not the finish line.

It’s the beginning of everything that comes after.

Now, every mission she steps into carries more than strategy —
it carries names, stories, and the weight of what healing truly requires.

At Face of Justice, we don’t fight just for rescue.
We fight for restoration. For dignity. For a future that’s fully rebuilt.

Because if we don’t show up for that part…
then who will?

24/03/2026

Some people think rescue is the end of the story.
But for survivors, it’s only the beginning.

Healing is complex.
Some don’t realize they were victims.
Some still believe the person who trafficked them loved them.
Many are just starting to process deep trauma.

Without consistent support, it’s easy to fall back into unsafe environments.

That’s why Face of Justice exists —
to walk alongside survivors long-term, offering stability, community, and a safe place to heal.

We’ve seen hope grow, step by step. And it changes everything.

✨ You can be part of that journey.
Your donation is tax-deductible and directly supports survivors rebuilding their lives.

Every survivor’s journey to freedom begins with someone who cares.

Through Freedom House, girls rescued from trafficking find safety, healing, education, and the chance to dream again.

Through Grace House, young women step into independence while continuing their education and building a future.

Through Hope House, women leaving prostitution receive mentorship, life skills, and the support they need to rebuild their lives with dignity.

And through Ahava Café, survivors gain job training, confidence, and real opportunities for independence.

This work is only possible because people choose to stand with them.

✨ Your generosity can provide safe housing, education, counseling, and real pathways to freedom.

Six years ago, Gina felt called to fight human trafficking. She believed that meant going straight into rescue work, so she joined the police department to understand investigations and how crime truly operates.

But when she later moved to Costa Rica to serve with Face of Justice, her perspective changed.

She realized that what happens after rescue can be even harder than the rescue itself.

Healing doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time, consistency, and deep resilience. Some survivors don’t even recognize they were victims. Some still believe the person who trafficked them loved them. Many are only beginning to process years of trauma.

Without long-term support, it’s common for survivors to return to unsafe environments.

That’s why Face of Justice exists.

We walk alongside survivors long after rescue — providing stability, community, practical support, and a safe place to heal. Because rescue without aftercare is incomplete.

Now, as Gina steps into rescue work, she carries the stories of the girls she’s walked with. Their resilience shaped her. Their healing gave her perspective. Their lives remind us why this work matters.

Every child trapped in exploitation is a life that matters.

If not us, then who?
