New rescue arrival!

Everyone meet “Jurrasic Park”. This baby collared aracari came to us unable to fly and with a foot injury. He’s now receiving treatment, a proper diet, and plenty of time to rest and recover.

He’s already settling in, exploring his surroundings, and showing lots of curiosity. We’re looking forward to watching his progress in the weeks ahead.

Blu’s health has improved so much over the past few months since coming to live with us. 💙

With a healthier diet, a more enriching environment, and plenty of opportunities to stay active, he’s been making incredible progress. Despite his arthritis and metabolic bone disease, Blu continues to surprise us with his determination and strength every day.

Watching him climb, explore, and gain confidence has been one of the most rewarding parts of his journey. We are so proud of how far he’s come and excited to see what he accomplishes next. 🦜

Tiny volunteer on squash duty 🎃💪
Helping carry in the harvest one giant squash at a time. Life on the farm means everyone pitches in — even the smallest helpers. 🌱🧡. (My partner’s 4yo, Gael).

Meet Waily — my partner and the farmer behind so much of what keeps our sanctuary running.

🍍🫜Waily grows an incredible variety of food here at the sanctuary including squash, chayotes, yuca, papaya, bananas, plantains, oranges, jocotes, and so much more.

🔧🌴He also does enclosure repairs, property maintenance and construction here.

Because of his hard work, dedication, and love for the animals, we are now about 70% sustained with homegrown fruits and vegetables. That means fresher food for the animals, lower costs for the sanctuary, and a more sustainable future for rescue wildlife here in Costa Rica. 🇨🇷

Every harvest helps feed the birds, mammals, and other rescues that call the sanctuary home. We are so grateful for everything he does behind the scenes every single day. 💚

Thank you, Waily, for helping the sanctuary thrive — one harvest at a time.

Dragon, Iguana, and little Godzilla have been loving the rainy season lately 🌧️

The rivers are flowing, the jungle is alive, and the three of them spend their days exploring trails, splashing through puddles, and taking themselves on little adventures down to the river.

Their happiest days are the muddy ones 🐾
