PATA was founded in April 2019 and is run by Sally Ella Horn and Emma Martinelli. It costs us at least $3,000 a month to do what we do.

We are a legal non-profit association rescuing abandoned and neglected cats and dogs in the community.

:
- Run a dog refuge where abandoned, sick and neglected dogs are cared for and nursed back to health.
- Organize foster care for abandoned and sick cats and kittens.
- Arrange adoptions into responsible forever homes.
- Work with other rescue organisations to fly our dogs to their new homes in the US and Canada.
- Subsidize low cost spay and neuter opportunities.
- Trap, castrate and release street cats to help control the population.
- Report cases of neglect and abuse to the authorities. DONATE:

💔 From rescued to ready for forever... Meet Dina! 🐾

When Dina came to PATA Samara in November 2025, we knew she was special. Born in August 2024, this sweet soul has so much love inside her just waiting for the right human.

Dina is a social butterfly who gets along famously with all other dogs, making her a great candidate for a multi-dog home! But more than anything, she is eager to bond with her human—to learn, trust, and love endlessly.

When she’s not being a total lovebug, you can find her happily trotting along the shore. She’s a true beach girl at heart! 🌊

❤️ FROM A ROADSIDE PUPPY TO A SWISS ADVENTURER! 🇨🇷➡️🇨🇭🐾

Some rescue stories just have that little bit of extra magic… and Pulga’s is one of them. 🥹❤️

When Sofia came to PATA to volunteer, she never imagined she would leave with a new best friend.

Around the same time, we rescued a tiny puppy who had been wandering confused and alone along the main road. She was hungry, scared, and covered in dirty, matted fur. We took her to the vet, searched for her family, and asked around — but sadly, no one ever came looking for her.

Then Sofia met her. ❤️

And that was it.

The two immediately connected, and Sofia named her Pulga. Before long, she knew this little girl belonged with her.

There was just one challenge… getting Pulga from Costa Rica to Switzerland meant months of paperwork, vaccinations, veterinary requirements, and preparation. ✈️

Sofia had to return home for work, but she promised us she would come back for her.

And she did. 🥹❤️

A few weeks ago, Sofia returned to Costa Rica, and Pulga finally got to go home with her forever family in Switzerland! 🇨🇭🐾

Today, that same little puppy who was once frightened and alone on a Costa Rican roadside is exploring the beautiful Swiss lakes, enjoying adventures, cuddles, and a life filled with love. 🥰

From being lost and forgotten… to being someone’s whole world.

This is why we rescue. ❤️

💙 MEET BILLY — FROM SURVIVAL TO FOREVER HOME 💙

When Billy first came to us, he was in a heartbreaking condition. He was severely anemic and suffering from tick fever, and he needed time, treatment, and lots of love to get back on his paws. 🥺🐾

Today, we’re so happy to say that Billy has recovered and is healthy, happy, and ready for his next chapter! 🥹❤️

Billy is such a sweet, loving boy who enjoys the company of other dogs and gets along with most of them. After everything he’s been through, all he wants now is a family who will love him, keep him safe, and show him what a forever home really means. 🏡💙

🐶 SUNDAY'S MIRACLE UPDATE 🐶

Do you remember sweet Sunday? We have some incredible news to share! 🌟

The brave little puppy who first arrived frightened, injured, and in pain has come such a long way. Look at him now!

❤️ His Journey So Far:

✨ His painful neck wound has completely healed, and his beautiful fur has grown back!
✨ The painful abscess on his head is officially gone!
✨ He is healthier, stronger, and full of life!

Today, Sunday is doing exactly what every puppy should be doing—being playful, curious, handsome, and full of joy. 🐾 He’s learning to trust people and other dogs more each day, and watching his confidence bloom has been nothing short of amazing.
Although Sunday’s vision is very limited, he doesn't let standard boundaries slow him down! He runs, plays, explores, and embraces every single day with a spirit that inspires everyone he meets. 🥹💛

But Sunday’s journey isn't over yet...
He still needs specialized, expensive treatment to ensure he has the best possible quality of life moving forward. While we’ve helped him heal from his visible wounds, there’s still one big hurdle ahead—and we can't do it without you.

🚨 URGENT FOSTER OR ADOPTION NEEDED 🚨

Meet Gypsy & Pepe 🤍

These two sweet souls have already endured more than any dog ever should. They were rescued after experiencing abandonment and neglect, and despite everything they’ve been through, they found something incredibly beautiful in each other: friendship, comfort, and trust.

They are gentle, sensitive dogs who have become each other’s safe place. Watching them together is a reminder that healing is possible when you have someone by your side.

Our greatest hope is to find a home willing to welcome them together, so they don’t have to lose the one constant they’ve had through it all.

If that isn’t possible, they urgently need a foster home by August 12th. Without one, they will have nowhere to go.

Returning to the shelter is not a good option for them. The shelter environment is extremely stressful for dogs with their personalities, and we’re deeply worried about how it would affect their emotional well-being.

Please, if you have room in your home and your heart, consider fostering or adopting Gypsy & Pepe.
