PATA was founded in April 2019 and is run by Sally Ella Horn and Emma Martinelli. It costs us at least $3,000 a month to do what we do.

We are a legal non-profit association rescuing abandoned and neglected cats and dogs in the community.

:
- Run a dog refuge where abandoned, sick and neglected dogs are cared for and nursed back to health.
- Organize foster care for abandoned and sick cats and kittens.
- Arrange adoptions into responsible forever homes.
- Work with other rescue organisations to fly our dogs to their new homes in the US and Canada.
- Subsidize low cost spay and neuter opportunities.
- Trap, castrate and release street cats to help control the population.
- Report cases of neglect and abuse to the authorities. DONATE:

🐾 🩷 Trixie! 🩷🐾
At just 9 weeks old, Trixie has already overcome so much. She arrived malnourished and anaemic, but thanks to lots of love, care, deworming, and supplements, she is now healthy, thriving, and has received her first vaccinations! 🌸

This sweet little girl is ready for her next chapter: a FOREVER HOME🏡 filled with love, safety, and cuddles. ❤️

💛 Meet Pickles 💛

This sweet little girl was found alone in a drain, scared and unclaimed. We couldn’t leave her there, so we stepped in to help her get the second chance she deserves. Now, Pickles is safe, loved, and ready to find her forever family. 🐾

Pickles is about 4 months old and is small enough to fit under the seat in cabin for flights to Canada ✈️🇨🇦

She’s an incredibly smart and attentive puppy who learns quickly and loves being close to her people. While she enjoys playing and being silly like any puppy, she’s generally very calm and gentle for her age.

Pickles has already survived more than any puppy should. Now all she needs is someone to show her what forever love feels like. ❤️

💖 Faith is a puppy with a gentle, resilient spirit. After everything she’s been through, she can be a little shy when meeting new people, but she warms up beautifully with patience and kindness. Once she feels safe, her sweet nature shines through — she loves calm affection, soft voices, and simply being close to her people.

🥺 Faith was found abandoned on the side of a busy road with multiple injuries and in a very fragile state. She was extremely frightened and initially too scared to let anyone near her. After receiving urgent veterinary care, it was discovered that she had a cervical spine fracture, as well as older injuries to her knee and pelvis.

🙏 To give her the best chance at a comfortable, pain-free life, one of her back legs had to be removed. Since then, Faith has made an incredible recovery. She is now much stronger, moving around well, and gaining confidence every day. Like many tripod dogs, she is learning to adapt beautifully and is expected to live a happy, active life.

😍 Faith is now ready to find her forever home — a patient and loving environment where she can continue to build trust and feel safe. She has already shown so much strength and heart, and with the right family, she will make a deeply loyal and special companion.

💖 Faith es una cachorrita con un espíritu dulce y fuerte. Después de todo lo que ha pasado, puede ser un poco tímida al conocer gente nueva, pero se adapta maravillosamente con paciencia y cariño. Una vez que se siente segura, su dulce naturaleza brilla: le encanta el cariño tranquilo, las voces suaves y simplemente estar cerca de su familia.

🥺 Faith fue encontrada abandonada al costado de una carretera concurrida con múltiples heridas y en un estado muy delicado. Estaba extremadamente asustada y al principio tenía demasiado miedo de dejar que nadie se le acercara. Tras recibir atención veterinaria de urgencia, se descubrió que tenía una fractura de columna cervical, además de lesiones antiguas en la rodilla y la pelvis.

🙏 Para darle la mejor oportunidad de tener una vida cómoda y sin dolor, tuvieron que amputarle una de sus patas traseras. Desde entonces, Faith se ha recuperado de forma increíble. Ahora está mucho más fuerte, se mueve bien y gana confianza cada día. Como muchos perros de tres patas, está aprendiendo a adaptarse maravillosamente y se espera que viva una vida feliz y activa.

😍 Faith está lista para encontrar su hogar definitivo: un entorno paciente y cariñoso donde pueda seguir desarrollando confianza y sentirse segura. Ya ha demostrado mucha fortaleza y ternura, y con la familia adecuada, será una compañera muy leal y especial.

🐾 BILLY & BELLA 🐾
A few weeks ago, a concerned neighbour reached out to us about two neglected, unwanted pups. We wanted so badly to bring them in immediately, but our refuge was completely full. As soon as space opened up, we rushed to get them—and Billy and Bella are finally safe with us at PATA! ❤️
They are absolute sweethearts, but they have a tough road to recovery ahead. Both are fighting severe tick fever. Billy, in particular, is incredibly skinny, very anemic, and understandably a bit timid and nervous about his new surroundings. Bella is right by his side as they start to heal. 🥹
They are already thriving on a diet of fresh meat, gaining their strength back, and soaking up every single bit of love and attention our team can give them. 🥰
We are so grateful we could give these two beautiful souls a second chance at life. Stay tuned for updates on their healing journey! 👇

Tourism low season often means rescue high season.

In just two days, two new souls arrived at PATA: Sunday and June. 🐾

Sunday, a tiny puppy of only two months old, was found cowering in the undergrowth on the outskirts of Sámara. Hes just 2 months old but is skinny, very anemic, has tick fever and had a wound on the neck that was infected with screw worms. He is now safe and receiving treatment while we work to prevent infection, heal his injury, and get him started on vaccines and the care every puppy deserves.

The very next day, June arrived.

June had spent weeks (possibly months) chained and forgotten. No one knew she was there until she somehow managed to escape and was finally seen by a neighbor who called for help.

When she arrived, she was in heartbreaking condition: extremely underweight, covered in ticks, fleas, flies, mud, and dirt. Veterinary exams revealed tick-fever (erlichia), severe anemia, and an enlarged spleen. Her condition is critical, and she faces a long road ahead.

Despite everything she has endured, June still gently wags her tail and looks at people with a small spark of hope in her eyes.

We don’t know what the future holds for either of them. We only know that they deserved better than what life gave them so far.

Today they are safe.
Today they are being cared for.
Today they finally have a chance

🏡🐾 TRIXIE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME! 🐾🏡

Sweet little Trixie is only 8 weeks old, and she has already been through more than any puppy should. 💔

A couple of weeks ago, her brother sadly passed away. While our hearts were absolutely broken, Trixie has continued to fight every single day.
Since then, she has been getting stronger, eating better, gaining energy, and showing us more of her tiny, playful personality! She still has a long road ahead, but this brave girl is proving just how resilient she is. 🐾✨

Every bottle, every medication, every vet visit, and every sleepless night of care helps puppies like Trixie have a second chance at life. Rescue is never easy, but seeing her continue to improve reminds us exactly why we keep going. 🥹❤️
