Today on Endangered Species Day, we honor one of the rainforest’s most iconic species: the Great Green Macaw 💚🦜

Once widespread across Central America, this magnificent species is now critically endangered due to habitat loss, forest fragmentation, and the disappearance of the giant trees they depend on for nesting and food.

Great Green Macaws are more than beautiful birds, they are seed dispersers, forest gardeners, and a living symbol of the deep connection between wildlife and healthy rainforests 🌳✨

Protecting and restoring connected forest habitat is essential for their survival and for other endangered species that share their home.

Every year, millions of birds cross thousands of kilometers over mountains and forests, following ancient flyways that connect the Americas 🌎

The interactive “Atlas for the Americas Flyways” highlights the migration routes of 89 at-risk bird species, reminding us how important healthy forests are along the way 🗺️ 📍 Our reserve is a key part of this greater living network birds depend on for food, shelter, and survival.

And while our beloved Great Green and Scarlet Macaws may not migrate such long distances, they also rely on healthy, connected forests to thrive 🌳✨

This World Migratory Bird Day, we celebrate the invisible pathways that unite the Americas and the forests that keep bird communities alive!

Healthy forests are connected forests 💚

Today we celebrate 100 years of Sir David Attenborough ✨

Few people have shaped humanity’s relationship with nature the way he has. For generations, his voice has helped people around the world fall in love with the natural world—from the depths of the ocean to the heart of the rainforest 🌊🌳

His storytelling has inspired curiosity, wonder, and action, reminding us that protecting nature begins with truly seeing it.

Today, we celebrate not only a remarkable life, but a legacy that will continue to inspire conservation efforts across the globe for years to come 🌎

🎈🌿 Happy birthday, and thank you for a lifetime spent helping the world listen more closely to the wild!
