Happy International Children’s Day 💛

At GCCC, through and we believe children deserve more than just education — they deserve connection, creativity, freedom to explore, community, and opportunities to thrive in the real world 🌿

Every beach cleanup, every excursion, every hands-on project, every act of kindness, every friendship formed across cultures… it all reminds us that learning happens everywhere 🌎

We are incredibly grateful to the families, educators, volunteers, and children from around the world who continue building this beautiful global community with us 🇨🇷✨

Here’s to raising curious minds, compassionate hearts, and globally connected humans 💫

🌎✨ A Few More Highlights from an Incredible Worldschooling Week ✨🌎

There were simply too many great moments not to share. 💛

From tide pool discoveries and beach explorations to volunteering, STEM challenges, carpentry projects, cultural cooking experiences, rock climbing adventures, team games, and plenty of time spent outdoors, this week was packed with hands-on learning and meaningful connections. 🌿🔨🧗🥟🐚

One of the things we love most about hosting worldschooling groups is seeing how quickly a community forms. New friendships, shared experiences, spontaneous adventures, and countless memories created along the way.

Thank you again to Marcy Warman-Bond ‘s families for bringing such wonderful energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm to every activity. 🌎🤝

Here’s a little more of what a week of worldschooling in Costa Rica looked like. 📸✨

We already can’t wait for the next adventure together. 🌴☀️

🌎✨ Another Incredible Worldschooling Week in Costa Rica ✨🌎

This week we had the pleasure of welcoming families from Canada through Marcy’s - Explore Costa Rica group for a week filled with adventure, connection, learning, and plenty of Pura Vida. 💛🌴

Together we explored:

🐚 Tide pools and coastal biodiversity along Tamarindo & Langosta beaches
🐶 Volunteering at Halfway Home
🔨 Hands-on STEM and building projects
🥟 Cultural empanada-making experiences
🪵 Carpentry and project-based learning
🧗 Rock climbing at Tama Rocks
⚽ Team-building games, sports, and recreation
🌿 Nature immersion and outdoor exploration

One of the things we love most about worldschooling is how quickly connections form. Children make friends, parents build community, and strangers often leave feeling like they’ve known each other for much longer. 🌎🤝

These shared experiences—learning through travel, culture, service, nature, and adventure—are what make worldschooling so special ✨

Thank you to Marcy Warman-Bond & families for spending part of your journey with us. We loved sharing this week with you and can’t wait to welcome you back for more adventures in the future. ✨

🎉🌎 Celebrating 2 Years of GCCC 🌎🎉

This weekend we celebrated 2 years of GCCC in one of the most meaningful ways possible — continuing to open our space to more children and families from neighboring communities. 💛

Yesterday, in collaboration with , we welcomed children from the Brasilito, Portegolpe, and Cartagena communities for an afternoon of recreation, creativity, and connection. Through their work supporting families across multiple local communities and neighborhoods, Alimentando Corazones helped coordinate another beautiful community gathering. 🌿

Over the past two years, we’ve also had the opportunity to welcome children and families from El Llanito and Santa Rosa continuing to grow these shared community experiences together.

The afternoon was filled with games and activities led by , laughter, movement, and the amazing support of volunteers and community contributors who continue helping make these gatherings possible. ✨

We’re incredibly grateful to for helping create opportunities that expand access to recreation, connection, and community experiences for children across neighboring areas. 🌎

Looking forward to continuing to grow and welcome even more children and families in the years ahead. 💛

🤝🌎 Volunteer Appreciation Month — April 2026 🌎🤝

This month we’ve been reflecting on the gratitude we have for our volunteers - the ones who give their time, skills, creativity, and energy to the community.💛

From local initiatives to international collaborations, volunteering has become an important part of both GCCC and —creating opportunities for connection, learning, and community impact.

We’re incredibly thankful for contributors and volunteers including:

🌱 Kim & Ava leading sustainability and recycling initiatives
🔬 Mr. Chris supporting STEM and Space & Science Club activities
🌿 Parent volunteers like Aurélie helping with field trips and educational resources
🎨 Lisa and bringing art, creativity, and community activities to our events
⚽ Chelsea from supporting sports and recreation
🌎 Visiting groups like integrating volunteering into their travels through Costa Rica

As well as the organizations and initiatives we’ve collaborated alongside, including:

🐶
🌊
💛 Community initiatives in El Llanito and Santa Rosa

Through both Hope Across Borders and the future vision behind we continue exploring how learning hubs can integrate education, sustainability, volunteering, and community involvement into everyday experiences. 🌍

At GCCC, volunteering and community engagement are intentionally woven into our worldschooling programs because we believe giving back, supporting others, and caring for the environments around us are important parts of education too.

✨ To everyone who has contributed in ways both visible and behind the scenes this year, thank you for being part of the community. 💛

🥭☀️ Mango Season in Costa Rica ☀️🥭

One of the sweetest parts of this season?
Fresh mangoes everywhere. 🌿✨

From picking them straight from the tree to turning them into smoothies, homemade ice cream, and fresh snacks, mango season naturally becomes part of the learning experience here.

Moments like these blend:
🌱 Nature immersion
🍴 Hands-on food preparation
🌎 Cultural connection
👩‍🍳 Life skills through cooking and sharing food together

Sometimes the best learning happens through simple experiences children will actually remember — sticky hands, fresh fruit, sunshine, and gathering together. 💛

A little taste of worldschooling in the tropics. 🌴🥭

🌍✨ Building New Pathways in Education ✨🌍

We recently had the privilege of welcoming teacher candidates from as part of their alternative and international practicum experience here in Costa Rica 🇨🇷

Experiences like these reflect the evolving future of education—where learning moves beyond traditional classrooms and into immersive, community-based, and globally connected environments.

At GCCC, we believe in creating spaces where future educators can engage directly with diverse learning models, bilingual environments, cultural exchange, and real-world community experiences. 🌎

Through collaborations like this, and alongside the continued development of independent learning hubs through we’re excited to be part of conversations shaping more flexible, human-centered, and globally minded approaches to education.

We’re grateful to continue growing this relationship with Queen’s University and look forward to welcoming more teacher candidates into experiences that encourage innovation, adaptability, and meaningful connection across communities and cultures. ✨

The future of education is collaborative, experiential, and globally connected ✨
