💛🎒 Another Beautiful Community Play Day! 🎒💛

Today, we had the joy of welcoming children from not one, but two communities— Alimentando Corazones from La Garita and Conectando Corazones from Santa Rosa—for another unforgettable Community Play Day at GCCC. 🌎✨

For many of the children, this was their very first visit. They spent the day swimming in the pool, jumping on the trampolines, crossing the ninja lines, playing on the playground, shooting hoops on the basketball court, sharing a delicious lunch, and simply enjoying the freedom to play, explore, and be kids. ☀️🏀🌿

As children prepare to head back to school, we were also incredibly grateful, through the support and collaboration with Hope Across Borders to provide every child with a new backpack filled with school supplies to help them start the school year feeling prepared and confident. 🎒📚✏️

Moments like these remind us that education extends far beyond the classroom. By creating opportunities for recreation, connection, and access to essential school supplies, we’re helping empower children, strengthen communities, and invest in brighter futures.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who continues to support these initiatives. Together, we’re creating meaningful opportunities for children—one community, one connection, and one backpack at a time. 💛

☀️🌿 That’s a wrap on another amazing week of Summer Camp! 🌿☀️

What a week it’s been! 💛

From outdoor adventures and creative projects to movement, teamwork, and plenty of laughter, our campers embraced every opportunity to learn through doing.

We wrapped up the week with one of our favorite hands-on activities—👩‍🍳🍌 baking homemade banana bread together!

Cooking is so much more than following a recipe. It’s an opportunity to build confidence, practice life skills, work as a team, explore new ingredients, and experience learning through all five senses.

At GCCC, we believe some of the best learning happens when children are free to create, collaborate, and discover together through meaningful, hands-on experiences.

A heartfelt thank you to one of our wonderful traveling families for their generous donation of sports and recreation equipment to GCCC. 🌎✨

One of the most beautiful parts of travel is the opportunity to leave a place a little better than you found it.

Whether you’re worldschooling, visiting Costa Rica for a few weeks, or simply passing through, your time in a community can create a lasting impact. 💛

Thanks to this thoughtful donation, our campers are already enjoying new basketballs, footballs, and recreation equipment—and these resources will continue to be used by local children during our upcoming community play days and programs through Hope Across Borders

🇨🇷 Happy Annexation of the Partido de Nicoya! / ¡Feliz Día de la Anexión del Partido de Nicoya! Every year on July 25, Costa Rica celebrates the Annexation of the Partido de Nicoya, commemorating the historic decision made in 1824 when the people of Nicoya chose to become part of Costa Rica.

Today, we celebrate the rich culture, traditions, and strong sense of community that make Guanacaste such a special place to live, learn, and grow. We're grateful to be part of this incredible community and to share in its history and traditions with the children and families we serve.

Cada 25 de julio, Costa Rica celebra la Anexión del Partido de Nicoya, recordando la histórica decisión tomada en 1824, cuando el pueblo de Nicoya eligió unirse a Costa Rica.

Hoy celebramos la riqueza de su cultura, sus tradiciones y el fuerte sentido de comunidad que hacen de Guanacaste un lugar tan especial para vivir, aprender y crecer. 🍌🥭 Learning Through Culture, One Bite at a Time 🇨🇷💛

One of the best parts of worldschooling is experiencing a new culture with all five senses—and today, our campers did exactly that.

Together we explored some of Costa Rica’s incredible fruits and local produce, asking questions, tasting new flavors, and learning where our food comes from. 🌿

Today’s cultural experience included:

🥭 Enjoying fresh mangoes the Costa Rican way—with a sprinkle of salt!
🍌 Learning how to prepare and cook sweet plantains.
🌱 Discovering local fruits, vegetables, and ingredients found throughout Costa Rica.
👩‍🍳 Building confidence in the kitchen through hands-on cooking.

These simple moments often become some of the most memorable—trying something new, sharing stories around the table, and connecting with a culture through its food.

Because at GCCC, learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom… sometimes it happens in the kitchen. 💛🇨🇷
