We are a global university based in Costa Rica that prepares and empowers young leaders to ethically and sustainably transform food systems, protect and enhance the livelihoods of food producers, and regenerate our planet. Our unique program offers students the opportunity to learn about agricultural sciences, food systems, ethical entrepreneurship, and social and environmental challenges through experiential, student-centered learning, and by living together with peers from all over the world.

We had the honor of welcoming Her Excellency Melinda Hildebrand, U.S. Ambassador to Costa Rica, to the Daniel Oduber Quirós Campus in Guanacaste.

During her visit, she met with members of the University’s Leadership Team to learn more about EARTH’s Learning by Doing model, student entrepreneurship initiatives, and the mission and impact of an institution that was established through a collaboration between the governments of Costa Rica and the United States.

The agenda also included an exchange with students that benefit from the Science Corner, an initiative developed in partnership with the U.S. Embassy that promotes access to educational resources and the development of skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), strengthening learning opportunities for local children and youth.

This visit reaffirms the importance of strategic partnerships in strengthening education, driving innovation, and creating opportunities for future generations. Thank you to the Ambassador for taking the time to join us.

At EARTH, our community is much more than a university; it is a place with a mission capable of transforming lives and communities.

Preparing leaders for food systems is a global necessity that we embrace with a sense of great responsibility and with the conviction that change is possible when it is built together.

Marisa Brenninkmeyer’s words reflect why she chooses to support and engage with a student community committed to returning to their communities to create change through agriculture, leadership, and sustainability.
