Maritza Barboza was doing her post degree in paediatric dentistry. She was treating many kids with low resources and thought it would be very difficult for them to access proper and rapid care despite the efforts social programs in place by the government of Costa Rica. With the help of Dra. Barboza’s husband and business partners, donated resources for the treatments of these kids during the two

years of her post degree. It started as a pilot project in 2015 and for which they have been able to help, thanks to your donations, more than 100 kids who all now have healthy, happy, cavity free smiles!!! Our goal is to expand and treat as many children as possible. In particular children under six years old; so they can start elementary school free from pain, be able to properly consume the public school provided menu (In far too many cases the only nutritional meal of the day). Priority is given to the pre-school and first grade age range. However, this is not exclusive and also extends to siblings so we can have all the kids in the same house healthy. The program also plays a crucial role in educating the mothers so the children’s oral care carries on after the procedures are complete.
